I just had the upgrade of the internet connection, are this results good? i don't remember the old ones unfortunately.

because i tried downloading from steam and now is far slower than before (before it was like 18-19 MB\s and now it's 4,5 MB\s), do i have to do something on steam settings?
Maybe right now the server are a bit down?
I don't think that it's an ssd related problem (like the ssd being too slow) because before steam was faster than right now.

is there a safe site where i can download something at full speed to see if it's a steam problem or a connection problem?!

Thanks.

When I upgraded to 500 Mbps Steam started download at 55-60 MBps on average immediately, no settings were changed. I know it's not much help to you, but anyway.

Edit: Also, do you measure your connection to your ISP server here? Ping could be better then.

I should as well tbh. I sure as shit spend enough time online and I'm always downloading large ass files for one reason or another, especially during quarantine

Having a fast internet connection literally dissolve any needs of a bigger ssd on pc or console, 500 gb is enough when you can download 100 gb in less than 10 min.

Maybe Steam servers have a problem now then.

About ping - I usually have ping about several milliseconds to my ISP, but I have fiber optics here and ISP server is just 15 km away. At first I thought 30 ms to ISP is too much, but it's not bad at all if you think about it.

it's nothing, i played a lot of overwatch on pc with 100+ ping.

it's something only for tournaments or the highest tier of competitive home gaming.

There's always a few things to consider. Not everyone will download from the same steam server. Not everyone will take the same route to the steam server. There might be congestion on the route that you're using to get to steam, but everything is ok when you are trying to connect to the epic store servers. People think just because their internet is fast, everything is going to be faster. That's not the case.

I could understand going at the same speed but 4 times slower? that's kinda of an anomaly.

Have you tried going into your steam download settings and changing the server to another location and see if you get the same speed?

Right now steam has milan as a server, changing to rome (the only alternative italian server) and trying to download something, let's see how it goes.

edit: nope, rome has the same speed buth a far slower start...

Maybe try Switzerland or France server, hell even Croatia.

That's impossible, my friend has the same connection and he download stuff at 70-75MB\s.

I just doubled my speed from 100mbps to 200mps

Speed test doesn't even have me hitting anywhere close to that. I wonder if my Google Home devices are borking my business up.

Lady was so persistent to push me towards the 500mbps plan

I used to get faster speeds through steam. It almost feels much more capped lately. My first Gigabit connection experiences were magical. Lately it has been just an OK experience.

So steam is still the only thing slow as fuck (4,5 MB\s) i even tried the download for genshin impact and that thing go to 75 MB\s straight...

What the fuck is happening with steam?

(for the record, with the old connection the steam speed was around 20MB\s.

It’s much better than mine and I live in the north, at arm’s length from one of the biggest cities in Italy.
Actual DL speed here tops at 3.5MB/s in the very best scenario, and UL speed... I don’t wanna talk about it, really.

What frustrates me the most is that 200 meters straight from here people get 10x faster Internet than me. Damn Italian infrastructures.
