USA USING 'DRONE' AIRCRAFT TO SPY ON IRAN
Sat Feb 12 2005 20:00:05 ET

The Bush administration has been flying surveillance drones over Iran to seek evidence of nuclear weapons programs and detect weaknesses in air defenses, the WASHINGTON POST is planning to splash on Sunday.

Newsroom sources tell DRUDGE: The small, pilotless planes, penetrating Iranian airspace from U.S. military facilities in Iraq, use radar, video, still photography and air filters designed to pick up traces of nuclear activity to gather information that is not accessible to satellites, the officials said.

The aerial espionage is standard in military preparations for an eventual air attack and is also employed as a tool for intimidation.

"The Iranian government, using Swiss channels in the absence of diplomatic relations with Washington, formally protested the illegal incursions, according to Iranian, European and U.S. officials."

A high up source also revealed they already have people inside locating targets. I'm sure Israel will get alot of this info to aid when and if they decide to take action first.

I'm really beginning to think that Bush will be seen as one of the worst modern Presidents because he was unable to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons on the planet.

If anything goes down I believe it will be done with Americans and Isrealis using American equipement so as to not get the rest of the ME pissed off anymore than needed. For all the people thinking that nothing will happen in Iran, believe me shit will hit tha fan over there soon enough.

Shitloads of people die under all Presidents. If we are lucky the next 4 Presidents will clean up his missteps.

Eh dunno. It also kind of depends on if they use the weapons... otherwise, it's unfair in a sense that only a select (mainly Western) countries can have nuclear weapons. Of course, this ignores any treaties that the latecomer countries may have signed that would legally hold them back from developing nukes.

Of course "trying to stop nuclear proliferation" can also be used as a false objective, as in the Iraq War.

I hope the U.S. and Israel can gather enough intell so that one or the other, or both, can do an '81 Osirak nuclear facility strike' type of attack to get rid of Iran's nuclear capability, or at least SEVERELY retard it.

Yeah, that was a very interesting time considering that there was no large military reprisal against Israel for taking that action nor condemnation by the world community.

apparently iran have taken just that attack into consideration when developing their nuclear programs, and their facilities are scattered and redundant. i probably read this in the nyt or heard it on npr.

The USA using *, where * equals spy equipment to spy on x, where x equals nation isn't news! DAMN BASTARDS!

So anyway I hear that Spring is coming. This should be breaking news.

Its more likely they took Iraqs nuclear program (pre Gulf War I) into account. Iraq's program was so spread out, and so able to survive strategic bombing that only action on the ground (inspectors) could guarantee that it was disabled.

Springtime is war drumming time for this admistration. Flowers, rabbits, new leaves on trees, and jets dropping bombs on muslims.
