Using the Xbox as a DVD player. (HELP!)

ok, so the Xbox did double in one room for me as a DVD player. That is up until today.

I just popped in the new Family guy movie and went to press play and nothing happened.

figured the batteries are dead so threw in some new ones and still nothing.

it's as if the remote and dongle are not finding each other.

has anyone else had this issue before and is there some way to reset or check into it more thne replacing batteries?

i went ahead and tried multiple dvd's and NONE are able to be started or skimmed through whatsoever.

i have always used input #4 and till today never had an issue?

is this a common issue i had just not heard of before?

Yeah that's odd.... Didn't bust the controller hopefully.

Check the receiver if it's plugged in all the way, test it with all ports, unplug the Xbox and plug in again. You know all the standard issue troubleshooting things. Hopefully you figure it out.

This is going to sound odd, and probably won't help. Same thing happened to me. I set my clock (normally I just skip it) and it fixed (or appeared to fix) the prroblem.

Could have been a coincidence.

i'm gunna unplug reset the clock instead of skipping and try again.

nothing else has worked so i guess it could not hurt.

Thanx

and naw the control was just working yesterday.

just trying to avoid buying another DVD player if possible.

dang, unplugged, reset, tried the clock.

plugged it in every connection. all with no results.

when i unplug the dongle it goes to the green screen telling me to plug it back in so i am assuming it is a remote issue.

all i can figure is my kid must have done something to it this afternoon when i was not looking.

guess i'll have to ask him tomorrow.

anyone know how inexpensive these remotes are right now?

ahh maybe i'll just deal and wait for the 360 and apply it toward the cost.

Thanx for trying to help me fix it all.
