Using ZSnes + SmartJoy + SNES controller setup X2 has problems

ZSnes + SmartJoy + SNES controller X2 has problems reading controller #2
ZSnes + two SmartJoy adapters from Link-Sang & two SNES controllers. 2nd Player is registering as input from the first controller. I don't know why, but I postuliaze that it is because the exact same two devices and converters are plugged into the system. I think I need two different devices. I don't think there's a way I can map the second Snes controller. So far this is the best setup I could hope to have--using the original controller.

These are the requirements.

I have the best for myself, and now I need something closer to the common denominator.
My plan is to populate my friends' and loved ones' computers with emulation, and I need cheap, cheap, cheap controllers to do so.

What's your suggestion?

Holy shit!

I need one of those SNES usb adapters. Never even knew they existed. I already have one for the dual shock, but this is a million times better for older games. :D

There is a choice for Input1 & Input2, yet the buttons configure exactly the same. Essently, the pressing analogus buttons on each controller registers the exact same input.

My setup =

The F.A.Q. at Link-Sang doesn't mention this problem.
