Anyone see this weird-ass japanese horror movie? I saw it yesterday in the new release section at blockbuster so I assumed it just came out on DVD here, and I picked it up. Watched it last night and I enjoyed it for its odd plot and kinda creepy (sometimes cheesy) atmosphere and imagery, but I had a feeling that a huge part of the plot is missing. I looked it up and supposedly it's based on some story/book/manga/whatever. Can anyone explain what the fuck was going on in the movie?

Saw this movie years ago and loved it. It's true that the movie ends in an abrupt manner, but that was intentional. The movie itself is like a spiral, and the ending is quite appropriate in that sense. I heard about the manga going on after the movie ends, but I've yet to read it so I can't comment on that.

I saw it a while back and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I became one of those assholes who thought the original source was infinitely better than the film it became. :)

I bought this after reading a review saying how great it was. I thought it was awful. There was about one creepy bit with something in a washing machine if I remember correctly, but that's about it. Spirals aren't scary!

Read the first 2 volumes of the manga, great stuff. The 3rd is all right, but it eschews the short-story format of the first volumes in favor of a fully-involved story and ending, which doesn't work quite as well.

Unlike, say, Gyo, which definitely could have used some sort of conclusion.

I kinda dug it. It's very cartoony, which is good in this case, because the visuals in the comic are really off the wall.
