[Valve] Steam Controller: Reservations open May 8th

Reserved. You only click the button and don't do any check out or anything. I guess you get notified via email when it's ready to actually purchase or whatever.

You know you get a 72 hour window to buy when it comes in and you can still choose not to buy at that point right?

I really hope they do this reservation system for Steam Machine.
 
I pressed the Reserve button on my phones Steam App and it changed to a cancel reservation button.
do I still need to go to a cart or a checkout screen or is that it?

No, you should get an email confirming the reservation and they'll send another email later when it's your turn.

I decided already with not buying it some days ago, although I probably could. I already had it in my cart but .. naah ..
Like I said, I'm waiting for the Frame, if theres some budget left, maybe even the Machine. But a Controller right now is unnecessary for me.
A new toy is, of course, always really tempting. Also my Day1 Deck needs a new battery, thats the controller + 35 more bucks.

The way things are these days, I don't trust that it'll be bundled with Steam Machine or that it'll be available at the time of purchase for Steam Machine.

But that's just me after getting burned too many times with tech and hardware purchases 😕

Edit: Oh, and price increases…

Got my res in as soon as it was live. I wonder what position I am in the 'queue' haha. Shame they don't tell you, but I reckon I should be relatively early.

Just got an email to purchase my reservation! Order locked in.

My reservation was in a minute before they went live.

Subject said "Please confirm your Purchase Information for Steam Controller." And it said I had 3 days to make a purchase.

Check your spam folders, just in case, gentlemen.

Just got my reservation 'purchase is available' email and bought it. Says 'ships in 3-5 business days' on the listing. Looking forward to trying it out.
 
Still can't buy Steam Controller. I put in my reservation the same day reservations went live. I've got $100 still sitting in my wallet. Any good sales coming up soon? Getting to the point I'm about ready to cancel the reservation.

Man that's crazy. I'd imagine it's gotta be sent out soon.

Summer sale is usually late June-ish.

Maybe hold off on cancelling until then?

Yeah, no point in cancelling I guess. I just found out that funds added to Steam wallet can be refunded. I'm about two days past the 14 day mark though so we will see what happens.

I'll leave the reservation for now.

Definitely keep the reservation, no harm in that.

What are you planning to use the Steam Controller for? Like...what are you looking forward to?

In my office, I have my PC connected to a 49" ultra widescreen and a 55" TV. Going to use the TV for games I play with controller and widescreen for games that support it. I'll launch into big picture mode when using the TV so the Steam Controller will come in handy there. Plus, my razer is getting a bit worn out from so much usage. lol

lol yeah dude, keep holding onto that reservation! It arrives pretty quickly once you get through.

It's perfect for TV setups. If your motherboard supports "wake from USB", you can wake it from sleep with the Steam Controller and it gives you a console like experience.

It's much more comfortable than it looks, too. I've had no issues playing Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman or 007. Probably put in a good 20 hours with it so far and it's great. I can see this being my daily driver for years.

Good news. Steam refunded the $100 so at least that money isn't tied up waiting for it. I'll probably still get the controller regardless.

That's awesome! Glad they refunded it even after the 14 day period.

Yeah hold on brother, it'll ship eventually. It's worth the wait if you use Steam a lot.
