Vanilla Sky.

Wow.... That was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Afterwards, it really made me think about life in general. Sure I was a lil' confused at parts as I'm sure everyone else was, but at thhe end everything made sense. I've heard lots of people trash this movie calling it horrible. Why is this? I don't see anything horrible about it. Far fetched? Sure, but it's a movie, enjoy it. I knew there was a reason I liked Penelope Cruz, and this seals the deal. Great perfromance by both her and Cruise.

P.S. Yes I know, "welcome to four years ago" or whatever. Shut your mouths! All of you! I don't have much time for movies. :lol

Vanilla Sky should be banned from any film library. Poor Cameron Crowe.

The original, Abre Los Ojos, is a FAR FAR FAR superior film in every way.

...in before the film students.

Wal-Mart (at least the one near me) has it on sale for $5.50

I was trying to find You've Got Mail for my girlfriend, and had to trudge through a huge chest-high bin for 20 minutes looking (unsucessfully) for it. There had to be a good 50 copies of Vanilla Sky in there.

Yeah, the original is better, but it hard to be critical of Vanilla Sky when it atleast attempts to be more than 99% of the crap that comes from Hollywood. Prolly it, and Fight Club get pooped on for by the "intellectuals" far too much imo. And say what you will about Cruise, he does take chances with his roles, even if they dont pan out (EWS).

I'm saying... I didn't really see the plus of going with real life. But I guess if you know in the back of your head it's not real, it just isn't appealing anymore.

there's no disputing it's a fun soundtrack, jeff buckley was on it too. the shot of an empty times square in new york was pretty fantastic too. chalk me up for someone preferring the original though. cameron crowe am cry.

highly recommended. I've been thinking about Cruise's ouevre and damn, he picks a lot of good movies to be in. I should start collecting the ones I don't already own cause they tend to be highly watchable. You wouldn't think it but he's really amazing.

Collateral
Jerry McGurie (sp?)
Vanilla Sky
Minority Report
Magnolia
Mission Impossible (One) ... two stank
Rainman
Born on the 4th
WOTW
upcoming

Great line. I thought Diaz was good in Vanilla Sky -- much better than Cruz. And yeah, the original is better, however I also really enjoy this version. How can you go wrong with Diaz, Cruz, and the great soundtrack?

Leftfield's Afrika Shoxx(sp) track in the nightclub was perfectly chosen.

Vanilla Sky has one of the most horribly utilized soundtracks ever. In theory, Crowe had a decent "hipper-than-you" compilation disc, but he made the mistake of constantly pushing it on the viewer; there's hardly a moment during the movie where there isn't some band of the moment being shoved down our throats, often in a way that's completely oblivious to what's happening on screen. Yes, Cameron, we all know you were a music journalist. Enough with the ridiculous posturing.

Hehe, the song name actually has 1 x at the end of the name... Funny enough, my Gamertag is "AfrikaShoxx" because "AfrikaShox" was taken, and I heard teh song on the XM the day I got Live. :lol

Oh and I loved the movie BTW. The movie was a real nice surprise for me, because I saw it opening day, and the prior advertisements/trailer showed a totally different movie from what everyone expected it to be (probably why it was panned when it first came out). I thought it was gonna be some kind of fucked-up stalker flick, but it turned out to be more on the sci-fi/dream/postmodern tilt (which I really like).

I really liked that movie. I thought it was really well-done and I really can't think of one part that was slow or could have been cut. I did think things kind of wrapped up kind of fast for the build up, but I do have it in my 'favorites' DVD rack. Along with movies like, "Heat", "Fight Club", and "Carlito's Way".

"Edge stole Big Ben's helmet"
I also liked Vanilla Sky more than Abre los Ojos, but that might be because I saw Vanilla Sky first. Who knows, either way they both rock and are both really interesting movies.

I would have enjoyed the film much more if I didn't think that Tom Cruise chose the film cause he thought it was non-fiction. Asshole Scientologists.
