BTW I like them all. Especially the Animal Crossing one.

Wow, that Mario Kart box is crap. Now with that out of the way, hurry up and get the game out.

M&L2's and Animal Crossing's are great, but Mario Kart's needs more than just a blank white background...

I like the simplicity of the mario kart one. The logo works for me. Im sure the actual box looks nice and sleek.

Well I for one think that the MKDS cover is one step in the right direction. I'm getting tired of the old putasmanycharactersonthecover syndrome that Nintendo really likes.

With a little less white, the MKDS boxart could totally work. The art itself isn't the problem; it's the combination of art and logo that suck the life out of it.

I realised my mockup has a bit of a mark by the rainbow on monitors with higher brightness or gamma settings etc, and I cheaply used MK: DD art for the kart on the cover, but here it is:

I actually don't mind the minimalist approach though. Plain white will stand out on shelves imo.

I think the MKDS boxart looks like shit. However,

This is a good point.

Why doesn't Mario Kart of Animal Crossing make any big mention of "ONLINE!"? The SKDS box has a huge white space just waiting for it.

Actually now that you mention it, isn't that from the picture promotional material for the Mario DDR game? Must be a mockup so...
that;s exactly what I thought...

I don't mind the simple Mario Kart ones, and the other ones are fine too...

that said, ever since they changed the Banjo Kazooie (or was it always the same) boxart to a crowded dark cover with tons of stuff on it, I came to realize that that wasn't my taste for boxarts...

simple ones like the Zelda ones are more my taste...

easily one of the most brilliant boxarts I've ever seen has been the Yoshi's Touch N' Go released in Japan...

if they were to do similar art style in terms of have crayon-ish outlines and stuff for the Mario Kart I'd really like the boxart... Or maybe do some art that isn't straight out of the game...

The Mario Kart box looks somewhat like a box of Marlboro cigarettes. Also, at first I didn't realize that the little Luigi was holding Big Luigi's arm on the Partners in Time box. It looks like he's holding... er, something else.

The Animal Crossing box is very nice, though.

Thats right, Baby Luigi is holding his giant, green, gloved penis.

Ugh.

Animal Crossing boxart is awesome. It does seem like it will be released before the end of the year now, with the new title and now boxart. I was doubting before...

Animal Crossing reminds me the so-inspiring Super Mario World (Super Mario Bros. 4) Japanese boxart. Brilliant.

I like the new-style MarioKart box and logo. In fact, I'd prefer they saved the 'true' SuperMario font just for the 'true' SuperMario series (I mean the font used in SMB3, SMB4 title screens)

As an update, I checked Nintendo's media site, and did not see the Mario Kart cover posted in this thread, just a blank boxart with "teporary" and the logo on it.

So again, Chris, where did you get this mockup?

Is there a better resolution image of the new Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time boxart. I want to what characters are in the game. I can make out a baby bowser, and that is probably it other than the main characters.

For those wondering where the mockup came from, Iwata used them as slides during his TGS keynote.
