Video Card Question. (WoW Related)

Bacon of Hope
I have an Abit Siluro GF4 ti4200 right now and it runs most games, OK. I just got WoW and it looks decent and all but I figure some other cards out there will make it look a lot nicer. It runs a little choppy at somepoints, but maybe that is more of a RAM issue?

I am not looking to spend much more than $200 at this point.

Is there anything out there that would be much better than the ti4200 for ~$200?

OR

does anyone have some settings to get the best performance out of a ti4200 in WoW?

Depends on your CPU, how much RAM you have and resolution you desire to run at. You can pick up Radeon 9700 Pro's for pretty cheap now, about 160 dollars.

How much ram you got? WoW is really memory hungry, everytime I'd enter IF it was a slideshow cause all the loading.... I got a gig now and it's so much better.

512 or so.. that's tthe right # right? :lol

Um yeah, so maybe I should just get more RAM huh?

Well it probably won't help your overall FPS, but if you're slowing down ALOT as you enter new towns or zones... then that's your ram screaming at you.

Nah, I mean it over all runs pretty well, just dosent LOOK like anything on the back of the box.

It only got choppy once when I was doing a gryphon ride this one time.

What the?........

Where in the world can I find a 6800GT for 200 dollars!???!

You guys are confusing the AGP 6600 GT for the AGP 6800 GT. The AGP 6600 GT is the one going for 230. Also, that is if ATI is true to their word, the X700 is coming to AGP in march. The non pro X700 is a steal at only 149.99 (PCIE). If ATI keeps it at the same price then this will be the best deal on the block (besides the X800 XL for 299.99. 249.99 if you go through their trade up program. Since 149.99 is the MSRP you can probably find it cheaper. Only other competing card in that price range is the 139.99 6200 GT. X700 NP>>>>>>9800>>9700>>>>>6200.
