[VideoCardz] AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT “bumpy” launch reportedly linked to price pressure from NVIDIA

I await all the AyyMD bros coming in to tell me that this complete mess of a launch is actually AMD's 5D chess move against Nvidia.

Lmao

So it seems like AMD got caught with their pants down by the 5070 pricing.

They are now deciding how much profit they can squeeze whilst also offering a competitive price against the Nvidia offering. As they should but my issue is the the whole "good guy AMD helping out gamers against greedy nvidia" narrative that people like MLiD try to push.

What has MLiD said? All the videos I watched since the announcement have said exactly what the article says: AMD was caught off guard by Nvidia's low prices and performance claims.

I'm also confused at people acting all surprised here. AMD's strategy for years has been to see Nvidia's price and undercut it slightly. Even their naming convention is a fucked up mess, to the point they're now just copying Nvidia.

They have no intention of disrupting the market. They profit off Nvidia's trail and they're happy to just follow. It's pretty obvious to me their main reason for being in the GPU market is for their APUs that are everywhere. These cards are an afterthough. I'd say it's the same for Nvidia for the gaming market, with their focus being datacenters.

The narrative is going to be that 9070XT was actually going to be $479, but because Blackwell underdelivered (even though the specs for the entire lineup has been around for months, and it was pretty easy to estimate that it was mostly going to be Ada + GDDR7 + non-raster improvements) AMD had a last minute change of mind and raised the price, so it's actually nVidia's fault.
