Viewtiful Joe 2 is pretty awesome

Yup, I got this sucker today. While I did enjoy VJ1 I'm actually having more fun with this one. I dunno why, but everyting just feels better. The levels are just awesome! Lovely design! And I also like the movie references (so far Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones). I'm on Chapter 3 right now.

It's out in Europe tomorrow I think, I was able to get a cheap copy today though :D Anyone else playing it?

It is a tad easier than the first one, but to some that could be a good thing(The first one was pretty damn challenging).

There's no excuse for anybody who liked the first one to not own this great game.

Its better than the first game, though its also easier.

I didn't like the first two bosses. I like the feeling you get when you know you've found the bosses weak point. Those two bosses didn't really have one (or I never found it). Later bosses had them.

I was a little dissappointed that there wasn't an
"Another Sylvia" fight.
It was there, ready to start but didn't.

Yeah it's pretty easy so far (for me at least), but so was VJ1 until that damn Magnificent Five appeared! I hope it's nothing like that in this one. Otherwise I'm doomed :lol
You're Doomed!!!
:lol

Really, its so much easier than the first game. You can save inbetween battles.

Perhaps i need to go out and buy this game. I left VJ1 unfinished. Not that i didn't beat it, but trying to beat the final boss in V-Rated mode drove me nuts.

I picked this up recently when it dropped to 20. Glad to hear it's a little easier than VJ1, I was stuck forever on the next to last level of that one -_-. I'd heard that VJ2 hadn't sold that well, I wonder why.

Maybe I will pick this bad boy up eventually.

VJ2 is easier than the original, but not too much easier. It's a good game, and at times better than the original. It was a little short, but fun all the way. I was worried that a sequel only a year later would be trouble, but it's a fine game. If Capcom can release a VJ this good every year, then they should! :lol I just hope the third game hinted at it in VJ and VJ2 comes out. They could parody Resident Evil. :)

Yeah, VJ 2 is awesome. I prefer the original Viewtiful Joe to VJ 2 but they're both great games. Viewtiful Joe is harder than VJ 2 but they both get insanely difficult in the higher difficulties.

Maybe the biggest issue with VJ2 is they didn't add very many new moves. The old ones are still awesome, but they should have added more. The new enemies are sweet, though. I like the robot in the red cloak with the scythe.

I loved both of these games. It's a shame VJ2 sold so poorly. I really want to see the end of the story.

There are two reasons it sold worse than the original,

1) The first was GCN-exclusive when it was released so you had all the N-fanboys hyping it up (by far the biggest reason VJ did so well).

2) They dropped the promised co-op mode in VJ2. Game makers have to learn to keep their mouth shut about features that aren't final in a game so that they don't get hopes up for nothing.

I will play this game. I was just swamped with other games when it came out and kind of forgot about it. Stupid Capcom.

I enjoyed the first one well enough, but I heard this one is more puzzle-oriented than first one. Is that true, because the puzzles were my least favorite parts in the VJ1.

VJ2 does have more puzzles than the first but I wouldn't say it's a lot more puzzle-oriented.

I was really disappointed with the first 1/2 of VJ2 because it was ridiculously easy and all the bosses are just RHOH after doding their simple patterns. No real quick way to kill the bosses like you could in VJ1 if you had skill.

...but the VJ2 Leo rocks (even if it is just the exact same fight), the boss marathon level rocks (though save points make it a joke), and the final level + final boss are really good battles.

It's defintely a few notches below VJ1, but the last few levels are challenging enough to make it a really enjoyable experience. Also the art design and visuals are top-notch.

Was it just me, or (at least in the early parts, I haven't played too far in) was some of the cinema work noticeably weaker than VJ 1? The comedy seemed nowhere near as sharp or well-timed, characters were waving their arms through other things that should be solid (clipping errors in spades, I'm not just talking about the scarf or ponytail)... VJ1 was genuinely swift and humorous in spots (I was amazed that even the Japanese import version had such polished English dialogue), but from what I've played of the first stages, Sylvia did seem like the definition of "third wheel," lagging Joe's reaction to things while she played the stereotypical bossy role.

Maybe it gets better later in the game, but that certainly was a disappointment to me. The cinemas in VJ1 were quite enjoyable, in 2 they seem to have been rushed too much.

Yeah, the story stuff in VJ2 sucks. I mainly just ignored them and focused on the action. VJ1 had a better plot/cast/writing. But then again VJ1 was a Kamiya game and very few people at Capcom can follow up his works as seen with DMC2 and RE3.

Wait wait wait...I haven't been a big follower on the VJ series (never really been into fighters - scrolling or tournament - save fore a select few titles) but it was supposed to have 2 player co-op with Joe and Silvia? SUNUVABITCH!!!

Go back and watch the early videos and you'll see both Joe and Silvia on screen fighting enemies at the same time.
