Multi-millionaire advertises for virgin bride in China
SHANGHAI (AFP) - A Chinese multi-millionaire has resorted to advertising in newspapers, magazines and websites in hopes of finding his perfect bride -- a 20 to 25-year-old virgin, state press said.
The 31-year-old man, whose name was not revealed, insists that he has strong traditional Chinese values and can neither accept women with an "avant-garde spirit" nor foreigners, various local newspapers reported.
A website specially set up for the eligible bachelor, who claims to be worth 100 million yuan (12 million dollars), has received thousands of messages since it was launched on July 4, reports said.
While many people have accused him of a publicity stunt, hundreds of women have expressed interest, some of them apparently still in high school.
Major national newspapers including the Youth Daily and the Shanghai Weekly have recently run full or half-page ads of the man's requirements.
It is the second time in two years that a wealthy man has advertised for a virgin in Shanghai, one of China's wealthiest cities.
In the previous case, the man reportedly found his marriage partner after a three-month selection process that included hundreds of women.
