Visiting Atlanta Georgia for a week. Any recommendations?

I'm visiting a friend in the sandy spring area of the city. My friend has to work a few days so I'm going to need stuff to do.

Is Atlanta somewhere foreign tourists even visit? Regardless, any tourist things you guys could recommend would be great.

Coke Museum is fun.
Aquarium is nice.
Both are downtown.

Stone Mountain is nature stuff

You can go visit the first ever Chik fil A.
Olympic park is downtown and there is stuff to do down there.

Be safe at nighttime.

The Tyler Perry movie studios are there, and it is where they filmed most of the marvel movies. It was just an old military base he purchased. Walking dead was filmed there too. In fact a fun of stuff is filmed in there.

Thanks.

It's mainly daytime stuff I need to do. In the evenings I'll probably be in sandy springs.

Can I buy a 7 day SIM at the airport? Lot of Asian countries do this.

Avoid downtown at night. Noted.

Ah yes, ATL, where they'll apologize for the accidental gunfire... then still proceed to rob you anyway.

Disclaimer: This is purely anecdotical.

Edit: If someone says "aye bruh, let me hold that" Get outta there.

You buy e-sims now.

World of Coca-Cola though it used to be better, is still pretty cool.

The Aquarium is one of the best in the country IMO and I've been to many.

A lot of the other experiences I would suggest I would never do without a local. Crime is high. There is a lot of cool stuff in ATL, but to do some of those is just risky IMO without someone with decent knowledge of the surroundings. Times have changed... For the worst, unfortunately.

It's a cool city though with cool suburbs. Don't be afraid to explore those as well.

Traffic and the trenches that's about it. Maybe hit an illegal car pit. Food is overpriced and mediocre but in the trenches you will get the best food for the price.

Since you're visiting sandy springs , if you like it ,see if the braves are playing at Truist park.. it's damn nice but parking is annoying which is the norm.

I should add if you like Wings , Magic city is the only place you need to go.

Hasn't been a thing for years

I can't tag OP for some reason but....

World of Coca-Cola
Georgia Aquarium
SkyView Ferris wheel
High Museum of Art

I would suggest, for food, Buttermilk Kitchen... their food is BEYOND good! Not fast food ... REAL food! Fat Matt's Rib Shack is a place for Atlanta BBQ.

Best strip club I've been to was Magic City but if black women aren't your taste, try Pink Pony. And Magic City has the best lemon pepper wings in Atlanta!

Catch a show at The Fox Theater if you can. Not sure what they have showing right now but they almost always have a good show from Broadway.

And while there is crime, all the times I've been BY MYSELF in downtown or uptown Atlanta, I've never seen or been a victim of a crime. That's 17 years living there.

Hope that helps.

I think of ATL as more event focused rather than destination focused. Whatever's going on in town that week is what you want to be doing.

However, for a first time visit, you can't go wrong with the Atlanta Botanical gardens, the Georgia Aquarium, or the World of Coca-Cola. Oh and Pinewood – that's the movie set where they filmed most Marvel movies and The Walking Dead.

If you watch college football, then the College Football Hall of Fame is a must. It's honestly pretty amazing how, with the exception of the Braves stadium, all the touristy stuff is so close to each other, centralized, and walkable.

Go north. Go shop and eat at Avalon in Alpharetta or the up and coming Halcyon. Go for a hike in the mountains or visit the alpine town of Helen. There are a bunch of cool parks to the north. Lake Lanier has a cool water park to cool off at. Visit Atlanta one day and stay out. It ain't worth the traffic or the risk of crime.

There is a Six Flags which has roller coasters and a water park. But I haven't been in 20 years.

GO to a Baseball games. The Braves have a great park.

Stay alert for invisible cars when you cross the street

the further south you go from downtown the more crime you'll run into. you'll be fine enough in sandy springs. people freaking you out about crime. I've lived in north atlanta, ITP for 6 years. my wife is a native. very low crime experiences.

what are youre interests? then we know how to advise you.

lots of good foods, food halls, breweries, barcades etc. to hop around to all over.

the beltline is a known destination for people to walk/bike on.

Lots of hikes and stuff in the north. Helen is a tourist destination that resembles a quaint german town. you can tube down the rivers. you can go golfing in atlanta. lots of music and sporting events...

what do YOU like/ want to do.

A friend in my country visited Atlanta years ago and he talked about the car racing place there, where they drive in a circle or something. That's where I would have gone had I gone with him at the time.

Do American black women like white British guys ?
The coca museum is definitely on the list and I'll try the aquarium

I am British so American football is alien to me. I would like to see one game just for the experience. Days I'll be solo are Monday, wednesday and Friday, I doubt they play during the day?

Well I'll be based in Sandy springs so I'm already kinda north. I'm more than happy staying that area if there's things to do, than walking round a huge city.

Interests wise I love history so museums are always good, especially war museums. I do like nature etc but I'm not sure I want to hike in Georgia, I'm currently in Italy and I know Georgia is hot too. I basically don't want to do heavy shit in hot weather.
Helen sounds great though.

I only need stuff for 3 days. I'm hoping my friend sorts a car out for the days im with them.
Wear condoms.
I normally avoid condoms as much as possible, can't work them. Sounds like Atlanta has a fair share for skanks if STDs are high.

Depends on the time of year you come out. In August the Atlanta Falcons have couple pre-season (practice games) on Friday nights and in October they have a Monday night game. Other than that it's mostly day games on Sundays.

Georgia Tech (college) has football games on saturdays and that stadium is insanely close to downtown Atlanta.

In late November there is a college game at the Falcons stadium between Georgia Tech and Georgia, one of the top college programs in the country.

Do American black women like British guys? Just talk and you'll see them swoon. Same goes for American men (any color) and a British woman (as long as she's pretty)... We swoon over that ish!

American football starts in late summer, early fall (September 7). Preseason games start in August... Not sure the schedule for the Atlanta Falcons

I don't know about war museums but the art district has High Museum of Art and a few others I forget the names of ... Admission is free on Sundays at High.

I don't know much that's touristy about Sandy Springs but it's a great area to shop and eat!

Been here a few days but didn't really get a chance to do downtown tourist stuff until today.

Checked out the cola museum, was better than expected.

Although the hilarious video in the theatre you watch first was like eh. Loads of clips of people doing random outdoor activities for 10 minutes, then some guy drinks coke at the end.
Americans started clapping, I legit laughed out loud.

Ate at a dinner beforehand Atlanta breakfast club - great food. The waitresses in there are smoking.

After went freedom shooting range to experience real freedom.

Honestly didn't like it much. don't think shooting guns is my thing. Ive shot guns in Vegas before but the guy there loaded everything, stood by for safety. Here I got shown how to load the guns at the counter and was left to my own devices. It's not exactly hard but, I dunno, was worried about doing something wrong and accidentally shooting myself more than enjoying shooting.

Tried an AR15, should have got an M16 tbh. And a
Glock 19 - I sucked at firing this - clip kept falling out after I took one shot.

Going stone mountain park tomorrow

I have a G19 in my center console. It's a fine weapon and I've never had that happen to me. Firing range probably had a shitty aftermarket clip.
Theres a chance I was hitting the clip release due to the recoil but I adjusted my grip to compensate and I swear I wasn't and it still occasionally fell out. I did think maybe the clip sucked.

When loading the 5.56 into the magazine I was surprised at how small these rounds are including the cartridge.

The ar-15 jammed due to it needed cleaning. Guy there thought I couldn't cock it at first.
