Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

So while I'm waiting for BBS to be extracted in the TN menu, I need to ask, does this need to happen everytime? Or does it only need one extraction and I can delete the original ISO file off the card?

Any issues running PSX games? Or is this PSP only?

It can run PS1 games but you need to package them into EBOOTs I think.

I put the FTP in the vita and it show up on the menu for extraction but after extraction is finished the thing disappear, nowhere to be found, what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks. I'll look up how to do that.

I fixed my unable to install homebrew problem by switching out the TNMenu for the ymenu.

Oh yeah, I remember back with the MBA exploit I had issues installing homebrew until I used ymenu. I don't know why that worked and the standard menu didn't though.

Has anyone else had trouble installing Content Manager? I have a Windows 8 laptop, and it just isn't installing. When I try and install it, it doesn't even open the installer. Tried different compatibility settings, running it as administrator.. It's not working. :/

Edit: Never mind, got it.

Does online work after using this, if so, any risk of bans? Also, sorry for asking a question that has obviously been asked 100+ times.

Anybody? Please

I found this advice given to people with similar problems as you:

"You guys have to make sure that there is a directory of a necessary folder to exist. If you don't create the homebrew ZIP correctly, it will not show after installing. Instead it will install itself in the root of your Vita memory card or somewhere else, taking up space. It NEEDS to be in the GAME folder. Just follow STEP 05a and you should be fine. It must be (INSTALL.ZIP/PSP/GAME/HOMEBREW/EBOOT.PBP) not (INSTALL.ZIP/HOMEBREW/EBOOT.PBP) and not (INSTALL.ZIP/GAME/HOMEBREW/EBOOT.PBP)"

Edit: Here Step 05a, for reference(it's for a different game exploit so ignore the fact that the save date folder is named differently):
Step 05a: Wired Transferring (Homebrew)
-Open the "NPUZ00210CPMEM" savedata folder. You will see files such as (SECURE.bin, H.bin, FLASH0.TN, etc...)
-On your desktop, create a new folder depending on what you want to transfer over. (eg. PSP>GAME>Your_Homebrew>Eboot.pbp)
-That new folder on your desktop, name it to PSP. Inside it, make a new folder named GAME.
-Inside the GAME folder, put your Homebrew in there. (eg. Your_Homebrew > Eboot.pbp)
-Now that thats done, right-click and select "Add to archives..." with the program, Winrar.
-On the window click and dot "ZIP" under "Archive format".
-Then under "Archive name", to make this easy, type in INSTALL.ZIP (NOT INSTALL.zip or install.zip); Capital letters!!
-Finally under "compression methods", change (normal) to (store) and click ( OK ).
-On your desktop, you will now have "INSTALL.ZIP".
-Copy or Drag that .ZIP file inside the "NPUZ00210CPMEM" savedata folder; same folder containing (SECURE.bin, H.bin, FLASH0.TN, etc...)
-Go into CMA and copy the MadBlocker Alpha SAVEDATA into your PS Vita.
-Launch MadBlocker Alpha. Now, when you're in the TN-Menu, you'll see the HOMEBREW game, Select it.
-It will ask you "Do you want to extract this archive? (YES or NO)" Of course you do!
-Now, you'll see a "Extracting..." loading bar. Let it extract to 100% and enjoy that Homebrew!!

EDIT2: For ISOs
Step 05b: Wired Transferring (ISO or CSO)
-Open the "NPUZ00210CPMEM" savedata folder. You will see files such as (SECURE.bin, H.bin, FLASH0.TN, etc...)
-Find the ISO/CSO you want to transfer and play.
-Take that ISO or CSO and rename it to 8 characters or less. (eg. STAMPEDO.ISO; not STAMPEDO.iso or stampedo.iso); Capital letters!!
-Now, copy/drag it into the "NPUZ00210CPMEM" savedata folder; same folder containing (SECURE.bin, H.bin, FLASH0.TN, etc...)
-Go into CMA and copy the MadBlocker Alpha SAVEDATA into your PS Vita.
-Launch MadBlocker Alpha. Now, when you're in the TN-Menu, you'll see the PSP game, Select it.
-It will ask you "Do you want to move this backup to ms0:/ISO? (YES or NO)" Of course you do!
-Now, you'll see a "Moving..." loading bar. Let it reach 100% and enjoy that PSP Game!!

Can anyone on the non-2.02 update confirm this method works on 1.81? I don't have the time to verify personally. I thought PSPfiler or the FTP program was mandatory..

It's not mandatory, it's just one option that you can use and it should work on earlier FW as this is the method I've always used.

Try the gpsp listed here:http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=17071

That's the only other thing I could think of that could be wrong.

This worked like a charm! Only thing is the transfer of games takes like forever

This is awesome (my first time trying out Vita homebrew). Everything is working fine on my Japanese Vita (via the Japanese version of Uno). In regard to emulators, I've tried Nester J, Picodrive, and Masterboy V2.10, and they all work just as well as on my PSP.

Is there a special process to add subsequent homebrew? after the first try which I got working, I thought I'd try a few more. The Content Manager shows the updated Save Data folder size and appears to copy them over, but the actual Free Space doesn't change and it only shows the items I copied over initially.

Help?

I can finally play my favorite PSP RPG, Tengai Makyou IV: The Apocalypse, on my Vita. They never put it up for download on the Japanese PSN! The 2D pixel art looks pretty amazing with bilinear filtering OFF.

I can also finally play all of my Tales Of UMD games, none of which were ever put up on PSN.

Install FTP and from then on, all hb should be installed that way. Fixes a lot of inconveniences.

What do I need to do to use the FTP method? Do I need some weird wireless connection?

You just need to be connected to your wireless network. When you run FTP it will start up a server and give you an IP address. Then you can access that from your PC, FTP programs will work better, but you can use Windows Explorer too (put FTP:// in front of the numbers).

Just make sure you change the settings in whatever FTP program you use to transfer one file at a time, otherwise the files will corrupt during transfer.

Thanks. I'm still on madblocker alpha exploit so not much is lost I guess. Just hope I'll be able to play Persona 4: Golden when it gets here in February.

Does this ECFW add anything new than the latest TN-C (madblocker one)?

So, this thread is quite large. This Homebrew let me play my PSP games on a Vita?

Any hiccups?

It does let you play your backups. There are a few games that seem hit and miss when it comes to working correctly, but the relative few I have tried seem to work normally. I haven't been able to find any comprehensive lists of what works and what doesn't, but this thread is full enough that you could probably just search for the game and find its status.

I don't think there are any changes apart from maybe some bug fixes (not even sure about that). This was just a port to a different game with support for the newest firmware.

Most PSP games work fine. Some seem to have compatibility issues, but as long as you're using legit rips the vast majority should work. While searching through the compatibility thread on Wololo I noticed quite a few of the people having problems were pirates who downloaded patched ISOs (especially for VC2 and VC3, which I was looking for).

So, any rumblings on the exploit being ported yet? I'd love to get on 2.02 and have e-mail/eReader on the go. :(
