I thought that as well - until I saw them displayed at E3 - they actually look pretty nice imo.

Orgasm? I dont want my to look at my xbox and think about alien spooge being all over the face plate.
 
I want the one they showed at E3 that says CONSOLE on the front, so I don't forget that my Xbox 360 isn't actually a magical ether transducer from the far future.
 
Midnight is cool, Organism is cool(read it as Orgasm at first), and Aluminum is cool.

As dorky as it is, I like the idea of custom faceplates. Hopefully they release a kit so you can make your own (ie: blank faceplate and paint)
 
It all looks "meh" to me. I'd just keep the original. I don't think the faces of consoles are the best locations for custome plates. They should do something with the sides to match the front. And what's with most of them just being the same as the original but with paint splattered on? :\ The matrix one would look better if the bg was black.

Assuming the customization thing takes off it shouldnt be too long before game based faceplates become a standard pre-order incentive.

I disagree since the face is the part you will see the most. If you stand the system up right in a entertainment center with other stuff then you will rarely see the sides.

The black one looks nice. There's some other ones on the flash-based xbox360.com site, and you can drag and drop 'em.
 
I chose "Sun," but I think all of these are going to look pretty awkward w/o the whole case being modded...

It is all about the games. Faceplates are just a neat little extra. Its a great idea IMO. Nintendo has been doing basically the same thing and making alot of money, the only difference being to get a new color you had to buy a whole new console. There is obviously a market for it anyway.

LOL I guess you did not see Allard's E3 speech and Velocity Girl. Anyways 3rd parties are going to sell cheaper ones with anything you want on them. Not these lame designs. Anything from Zelda to Master Chief is better than this art-school reject portfolio.
 
Organism is cool. Moji loooks pretty cool as well, but I need a bigger picture on that one. Game specific face plates as a pre-order bonus wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
 
Look at iPod faceplates or covers. There are so many of them. If some factory in China can make them for profit, I think they will outsell the 1st party crap especially if they look this awful.

Pennies worth of plastic and I'm sure MS is gonna sell these for $10-20.
 
its wierd that they only have abstract art designs right now.. the sonic photoshop was great, need more game related ones. where's master chief with the pimp hand? or a lineup of jade empire hotties?
 
I'd rather get a skin. Sure it's more trouble getting it on but personally, I think faceplates are a waste of plastic. Skins will probably be cheaper than faceplates.
 
I'm still surprised the design geniuses still havn't come up with a black or onyx faceplate yet. Some of us would like this thing to fit in with the other components of our entertainment center.

That's what I was thinking. :/ .I hope there will be a company taht will allow you to make your own plates, that'd be kind of cool.
