Oh my god, on 22nd June Square Enix wants 14,910yen of my money for an ARTIFACT BOX comprising of VP2, a posable Silmeria figure and a soundtrack CD comprising a "best of" collection of VP and VP2 tracks. Sounds like a trap. :(

Yeah they are. I heard they farm all programming to China and they're fucking cheap.
They have 2 Chinese subsidiaries actually. The only games made in their JP studios I know of for sure are DQ spinoffs (Monsters, Slime Morimori) and Nintendo platformers (Peach, Starfi).

Well apparently it also comes with some "Metal Accessory". That's really vague.... it could be anything from a spiked dildo to a keychain. Trapt indeed. :(

Maybe the "metal accessory" is the knife Krauser wields after he pops out of the box to cut you.

No seriously, I'm an LE whore, but even I won't be falling for this. No way in hell I'm gonna pay 14,910 (probably get bumped up to 200 US by import shops) for a game from Tri-Ace with no guarantee of its quality.

Anyway, it seems Square Enix really likes working with TOSE...

Man, thet only way they'd get me to buy the Silmeria LE is if the game came with a 12 inch, super detailed figure of Silmeria. That'd truly seal the deal.

And w00t for Lezard! Or should I say Lizard as he was originally known as =P.

If the figure was of any real quality at all, it would be at least 25,000yen and you know it. LEs are getting lamer and lamer. Damn ripoffs.

What the shit, do I have to beg for details?! Specifics ASAP!
duckroll made it quite clear, the port itself is not a shining example of how a port is supposed to be done, but the game itself is excellent.

Ok for those that can't read paragraphs here it is in POINT form. :D

Pros:
+It's fucking Valkyrie Profile
+The game isn't broken
+Controls works
+It's not censored like the US VP
+Widescreen
+Portable

Cons:
-Longer loading than PS version
-Badly filtered sprites are ugly
-Zoomed in badly filtered spriters are uglier
-Badly filtered text is annoying
-Slowdown in dungeons

Debatable:
+/-Key cutscenes replaced by low budget CG FMV

I know that, but I want specifics other than kiryogi's point about the text and sprite bluring. Is there slowdown? Bad audio? Poor controls, and if so how? Etc.

This was aimed at me ;_; I can read.... slowly....

Thanks though man. It's seems the bluring is the worst aspect. How bad/often is the slowdown, and how long is the loading?

What was censored? :?

Badluck's smoking was removed because the old President of Enix USA was really REALLY against smoking. He removed it from their dancing games too. Instead of his "flick a bunch of cigs to blow the enemies up" finisher, in the US version he merely shot a shitload of arrows ending with an explosion as a finisher.

Lenneth PSP sucks who cares :(

Yay fir Silmeria and yeah fuck TOSE those unskilled programmers.
They really need to close down their porting studio. I wanted FFV+VI on the go, but I may skip them now. :(

You should note that their Japanese studio has made a few decent games (like DQM+SMMDQ for SE and Starfi+SPP for Nintendo).

Actually the loading and random slowdown is just as annoying if not moreso. Going to the menu has a 2-3 sec LOADING TIME in and out @_@. Game is near unplayable IMO.

Geez, that sounds horrible. Maybe i'll stick to the PS1 version.

Who am I kidding, I'll get the PSP version like the tool I am :lol

We all know how much you hate load times, Bebpo. I can imagine you being stuck in a mental asylum during the 32-bit days.

If that list is accurate, then i guess TOSE can't be all that bad. I find the FF Origins port to be stupendous.

It's as its been said over and over in this thread. It's a very disappointing port, but it's still a playable PORTABLE Valkyrie Profile, and even more so if you've never touched it. IMO, the loading really doesn't bug me at all, I've felt worse on the PSP... (Y'6s !!!)

Wow...introducing slowdown when porting a game from a 33 mhz system to a 222+ mhz one...I think that takes a very special blend of incompetence and laziness.

I feel sorry for those who missed out on such an awesome game the first time, more load times then the original on a portable. :(

PSP really did need a TV out, it was my decision to hold out on getting one at launch after Sony said they weren't putting one on the thing (until GT4M arrived), I had a feeling I would not just need to but have to play the thing at home most of the time. It would have been awesome to have it to remove whenever I couldn't play on the TV anymore, and I'm sure PSP as well as UMDs would have been a much bigger hit if PSP had a TV out.
