Wachowskis working on Matrix 4, says John Wick director, Keanu "wouldn't say no" to it

Chad Stahleski, stunt coordinator and Neo double on the trilogy, dropped the news in an interview with Yahoo. Keanu also commented on it.

After what happened with Star Wars and Game of Thrones, I'm happy this franchise is back in the hands of its creators. Whatever they do, I'm in.

2 and 3 have slightly grown on me over the years, but the crappiness of Jupiter Ascending makes me cautious.

I'll still go see it in the theater probably.

Isn't the story definitely over after 3?

I'm skeptical at best but maybe someone actually has a good idea where to take this world... And how are they asking about Keanu Reeves returning to the Neo character? Oh that's right, no one's ever really gone. :messenger_smirking:

I remember being a little kid watching The matrix like wtf is this. And then someone explained it to me and I thought it was too serious and silly as shit. Now when I see it the only part that really speaks is the steak eating scene.

A true sequel? I thought the rumor was a reboot, at first?

I mean I love The Matrix, one of the most memorable movie experiences as far as remembering being in the theater as a teenager, just watched it on Netflix two nights ago. The sequels were fun enough, I guess. Good action.

I'm not quite sure where they could go with another true sequel.

The One Reborn? The One: Version 8?

A prequel?

I mean I'll watch whatever we get, I just don't know how to feel about it.

Considering how bad the sequels and the rest of their output has been I dont see any scenario where there this doesnt turn out to be trash.

^ so much this. I've read a fair few defences of two and three going into the Philosophical aspects which may or may not have any merit, but unfortunately, I find it hard to look past everyone trying to look too cool for school wearing sunglasses literally everywhere (FFS they're wearing them in a sewer at one point...) . The absurdly has not aged at all well from Neo & Agent Smith's pile on fight, or the great big cringe-inducing rave festival love in Zion (or whatever the fuck it was called).

I enjoy the action of the sequels but outside of that the dialogue is what kills me. So much repeated prompts.

Basically every conversation turns into "where you see this, I see this" or "you believe this, but I believe this" or some variation of either

I'm just in for some new fight scenes. If the story isn't a dumpster fire I'll just consider it a small bonus.

I've been hungry for more Matrix for many years and am surprised it's taken this long but I hope the Wachowskis are not planning to direct anything.

I'm happy for them to be involved but they haven't exactly had an amazing career post Matrix...
Keanu being involved would be cool though.

Cant wait for the female choosen One that will erradicate all man from earth, since they are plague.

Also hope they cast Brie Larsson as female Neo.

Neo as a non-gender binary fluid kung-fu white Caucasian male assisting a black man (Morpheus) with his oppression against patriarchy with the help of a pansexual lesbian tomboy lady (Trinity) confirmed.

The first movie was amazing for its time, and I'll admit the mechs from the 33rd film were pretty kick-ass, but I'm incredibly luke-warm to the idea of more Matrix films.

Once somebody shits the bed, it takes a Herculean effort to unshit it.

2 was ok but 3 was so boring. Characters you don't care about shooting at cgi monsters you don't care about

Some amazing Italian tits tho, worth the price of admission

Who cares about the story after the first one. Just give me fight scenes set to cool music and im down. Save us from these comic book trash action scenes.

In the It thread, I said the most disappointing endings were Lost, WestWorld season 2, and the remaining eight were Stephen King. I guess I forgot Matrix Revolutions.

I liked Reloaded apart from the ending. Revolutions was...whatever. So if there is at least kinda Reloaded quality in the 4th I would watch it...and maybe put Persephone in it.

I thought it was pretty well established that the Wachowskis are hacks. Seriously, The Matrix is the ONLY good thing they have put out there and there are allegations(?) that they stole somebody else's work. If the Wachowski's put out great film after great film, I would not give credence to such allegations, however since they basically have garbage movie after garbage movie, I am CONVINCED they robbed someone else's work for the original Matrix (the rest are at best your average mindless popcorn flicks).

They may go ahead and make a great movie, but as for now, I have zero hype. Maybe they will prove me wrong and make this their second "good" movie, or you know, more likely we will get the next Jupiter Ascending.

This reminds me of something else that is bothering me, D. B. Weiss and David Benioff, they are given FAR too much credit for the success of Game of Thrones. The real magic for the series is and has always been GRRM's works, when that dried out so did the true greatness of that series. Now they are giving these guys Star Wars movies. I really hope they have another great writer provide them with a great story for that as well, because I have seen what they do on their own and that ain't pretty.

I think I like Revolutions more. Neo's journey in the real world is way more interesting than his Reloaded quest.

We didn't know how good we had it back then. It's wasn't until Man of Steel that we had comparable superhero fights, and this is still amazing:

It launched in November 2003! Why does it still look so good? :messenger_hushed:

Probably the most disappointing trilogy that I was genuinely excited about. The first movie still holds up as fun today, but man, parts 2 and 3 were a huge bummer for me.

This feels like a cash grab tbh.

Story is over and done. At most, I'd be more interested in a prequel story of the lead up to the creation of 01.

Cloud Atlas is a fucking master piece, then Matrix 1 another master piece, and Sense8 was better than most sci-fi tv dramas. That alone disqualifies them from hacks. A load of people also love Speed Racer. Matrix 2 had its moments as well but the bad taste of Matrix3 and Jupiter makes people hate them for some reason.
