Pro 16 starts at $2,399 for 256GB and $2,999 for 512GB

Pro 13 starts at $1,499 for 64GB, $1,799 for 128GB, $1,999 for 256GB, and $2,499 for 512GB

The pro 13 replaces the cintiq companion series I guess.

What do you guys think?
imo wacom's pricing is getting ridiculous. And now it seems they don't even include the mobile stand and pc connector thing, and are selling them separately lol

Anyway I don't know if I can do 3d modelling/sculpting well on any of the Pro except on the more expensive Pro 16 which starts at $2.4k. For those price I'll probably just get 22 or 27QHD instead (when they get updated eventually)

Also I can't get over how wacom stabbed the companion hybrid owners in the back, still stuck on android 4.2 :(

For years I've dreamt of something similar, but with that pricing sure to be even worse here in Canada, I doubt it will be enough to drag me away from my Surface Pro 3. Sure, the Surface pen is nowhere near in the same league as this in terms of pressure sensitivity, lag, parallax, etc., but it runs full Windows and with Kyle Webster's brush packs, I've had no problems using it as a portable sketchbook. Hell, I've even drawn a graphic novel on it which I published in May.

Still, I'd be lying if I said some of the frustrations with the pen (no tilt functionality as one example, the eraser reading occasionally as the tip for another) aren't really making me consider this as my next portable PC.

Companion didn't require an extra peripheral like the wacom link to connect with a computer right? The Link better come with the tablets. They are getting too greedy.

The inner geek in me says a 16" tablet would be amazing for drawing on the go. But my wallet says fuck no. Especially since I'm clumsy as hell. I'm already too cautious with my 13" iPad Pro.

This is definitely for serious artists that need to produce art at Starbucks.

I guess I'll stick to my cintiq 13hd. I'd like to have the larger screen but for that price it's not worth it.

They're out of their minds with this pricing. I guess they're banking on the fact that Adobe/Clip Studio/other desktop programs are the standard still.

The baseline iPad Pro and pen costs less than half of one of these. Granted, it's a closed ecosystem so it's not directly comparable, but for a portable digital drawing option I've been thrilled with Procreate (which is five bucks as opposed to, I dunno, name any professional drawing software). I've heard good things about the similarly priced Microsoft Surfaces too.

I say this as someone who has used a desktop Cintiq for yeaaaars.

When are they going to update the 22HD or give a new one that ranges between 13-22? I want to upgrade from my Intuos but I feel like they're going to do an upgrade to the line soon.

So do these versions not suck like their predecessors? Because compared to a Surface or an iPad Pro, I'm not sure what these offer besides being overpriced, heavy, and offering terrible battery life.

Wacom has made sure that I will never buy a product from them since the Intuos4 I got with grant money back in college. Their prices are just ridiculous compared to the quality of experience you get from them.

Yep. Seems like the extra hassle of migrating to Photoshop for finishing or having to sync things would still make the iPad worth it. My friends who have tried both have said the iPad Pro feels better too with its laminated display (I've only used the iPad so I can't compare aside from my conventional Wacom), so really it seems like Wacom is trying to squeeze as much cash out of the diehards who don't want to change their workflow.

Yeah the companion and the hybrid comes with the cables. Right now the Pro's what's included list doesn't have them. Just hope it's not finalized yet.

The Pro 16 is 15.6" so that's between 13-22 I suppose. Anyway I'm also waiting for 22 in 4k res or maybe 24/25 if they do announce one. 27UHD is a bit too huge.

Yea these prices are ridiculous, especially considering the prices of the surface pro and Ipad Pro.

I pretty much do all my drawings on the Ipad now and only use my cintiq when i need to zbrush or a ridiculous photoshop file with tons of effects and layers.

I do like the thinner body and over all more polished feel.

Wacom sees the iPad Pro and Surface and their response is to make something even more expensive lol ok

Edit: I have a Wacom Pro tablet and was hoping the rise of this competition would drive prices down

The iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface has made this market a heck of a lot more competitive, Wacom's pricing model is laughable when the Surface 3 does as much for half the price of their cheapest "option" (it even has half the storage for twice the price).

Wacom could head into a Blackberry situation if they don't change their ways.

curious to see how these feel. I have a companion, but the screen size + weight + battery life + need for a keyboard pretty much ruin any of what I want out of a device like it, so it mostly sits in my closet :(.

It saved my ass a few times, but for a casual 'take out and sketch' thing, it doesn't do the job for me. It's close, but not there yet. a lot of it is on the apps themselves not having great touch functionality too. unless youre literally only using pen and color picker, something like photoshop gets obnoxious to use if you want to use the marquee tool, do edits, selections, etc.

At this price it actually makes more sense to buy a really good laptop and use an Intuos.

They could have made a decent case for that $3000 15.6" version if it wasn't for the dual core ULV CPU and 16GB RAM limit. Wah wah waaaaaaaah~ Thanks for playing Wacom.

When that one drops down to less than $2000, I'd consider it.

LOL.

That's Surface Book money.

This thing is way better spec'd than Surface Book.

I've tried every kind of tablet PC and tablet.

Being untethered from home/ office has been a godsend. I got into the game with this Samsung that's basically the Surface before the Surface came out. It uses the wacom penabled/ Feel digitizer which is okay but it left me dreaming for a tablet PC with a DTK digitizer.

Then the Companion came out with the digitizer I wanted. I had to day 1 it and uh... the fact that it has DTK is the only saving grace. Wacom are keeping a death grip on this board and I don't think rebranding is going to help.

Despite gripes with it that I have the cintiq companion (v1) has been used extensively in my travels and allows me to, creature comfort aside, work at full capacity anywhere I am able to set up shop at. When this hurricane destroys my home odds are it's going to be my work station until I get my desktop up and running again.

Pic shows what I'm currently using. 27QHD (back), Samsung notSurface.. something (left) and Companion (right).

Some of my issues are just a fact of life of having the digitizer ive grown accustomed to since the Intuos 3. It requires a huge bezel and there is no getting around it. Weight/ thickness makes it difficult to hold with one hand and the power button placement, faulty power adapter, and lack of desktop display functionality in the companion 1 are pretty ridiculous. Problems I'm pretty sure were rectified in companion 2. What wasn't rectified was the garbage 2 piece stand which I hope they redesigned here.

I wish we had more say in what we were able to put our money into though. Why do they have to pair up better CPUs with HD space I don't need. Same goes for ram. I'm a 2d artist who mainly uses photoshop, sai (shut up), flash, and clip studio. 4g ram, 64gb ssd, and i7 are my ideal specs in my interest of saving money.

Although the discreet video card sounds nice on paper I think I'm still going to sit these next tablets out as I did skip the companion 2. I am a 2d peasant so this doesn't bring to the table anything I really need other than giving me the ability to play games now (I think).

Random aside, I ran into a couple of the Procreate staff at a thing the other week. Turns out they're a local company and my gf is friends with half of them.

They sure act like they don't.

Nothing rivals the DTK digitizer. Anything short of that, even within Wacom's own products, is a compromise.

Although the actual advantages can easily be overstated we have to keep in mind that DTK tablets are not consumer-in-mind products. They aren't made to be competitive in the consumer market. They are niche tools for artists, enthusiasts, and professionals. It's like comparing a Titan X to a Quadro m6000.

I wish wacom were more competition oriented though. I feel like their designs could improve more dramatically over time if they were.

Lol no thanks Wacom I'll stick to my miix 700. They sure work real hard to make sure I don't get a new cyntia despite my heavy interest in them

Is their any particularly good option for people who'd like to get into the tablet game for vector illustrator drawings? Drawing perfect circles, logo shapes, making lots of duplicates. As opposed to the needs of the drawing based illustrator I keep being told of the superiority of a stylus to a mouse when it comes to this.

if you just want simple tablet to start with, you can get the wacom bamboo or intuos art I guess? I think they're somewhere between 50 to 90 usd. Not sure about other brand though, maybe the others can help you.

I'd love a 16" Cintiq, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like anything is on the horizon just yet.

A larger iPad Pro would be fantastic as well, since the Apple Pencil is in some ways superior to what Wacom offer (from what I've tried of it). It's just a shame Apple don't officially let me use it with a Mac.

16" pure Cintiq will be out and probably replace the 13. They are not going to do a 16" portable device and not reuse that panel and digitizer.

Does Wacom even have a decent competitor that can match their screens and digitisers?
How did the iPad pro end up comparing to the Wacom?

As long as it doesn't affect the surface negatively the no parallax sounds nice. Can't say I have ever thought latency was an issue.

It's great for portable drawing and painting. It's what I use these days for my work. However if you need a tablet for 3d/Video editing, a real pc is still best.

I'm still waiting for a 22hd replacement.

Better hardware, screen, battery, and can be used for more stuff other than drawing.

However, you can't use the same software that you use on your Windows computer (if you have a Mac you can screen share at least), so transferring files back and forth is still a thing that has to be done if you prefer to finalize your work on a software that's only on PC.

For making 2d art Procreate is the best app there is, and that's an apple exclusive for now.

However, there aren't really any apps on the apple app store that can compete with Zbrush, Premiere, Storyboard Pro etc.
