Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery | Teaser

I liked the first and thought the second was pretty bad. Is this by the same guy that tried to kill Star Wars?
Funny. I liked Glass Onion but found the first to be lacking in mystery and heavily contrived with all evidence being completely in the open. Not sure how to feel about his one based on the teaser.

The second one was pretty bad by comparison to the first, mainly because it became about politics like everything Hollywood did during that period. The first one had some of this to some degree, but the second one was entirely consumed by it

Maybe the third one can go back to being a cool murder mystery. We'll see

I never watched the second film through the lens of politics and found it exciting and hilarious. The first film was too dry and straight forward.

The first one was fine if not massively overrated. Glass Onion was trash. It's all just that forced quirky where it thinks it is three times as clever as it actually is.

first was okay as a free Netflix watch. had I paid to see it in a theater I'd probably be disappointed.

I turned off the 2nd one ~20 mins into it, total trash.

I can't forgive Rian for Star Wars but the first two Knives Out I enjoyed a lot and I'm in for this.

Took me a minute to realise the date was the Roman numerals flashing up which I thought was neat.

Yep. Rian Johnson. The man responsible for making the second worst Start Wars movie and derailing the sequel trilogy because he wanted to "subvert expectations". That's him.

I got permanently banned from r/movies subreddit because I said "I guarantee you the culprit is one of the white characters" in the Glass Onion trailer thread.

Rian Johnson's one of the top talents in the industry.

  • Brick - cult classic debut
  • Looper - modern sci-fi gem
  • Breaking Bad: Ozymandias - best episode in all of Breaking Bad
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi - best Star Wars film not called "The Empire Strikes Back"
  • Knives Out - a modern whodunit masterpiece
  • Glass Onion - fun followup to Knives Out

Can't wait for Wake Up Dead Man. (although I'd like to see him branch out from this series after this one and go back to some different genres of film)

Ugh, I was never more than a casual Star Wars fan but that movie pissed me off more than any other movie I've seen.

"Hey, I bet you think you know what's going to happen next, right? Here it comes… get ready for it…. Annnnnd WHOOPS here's some totally retarded nonsensical thing that happens instead! HA HA bet you didn't see that one coming!"

^ happens like 10 times in that piece of shit movie. Dude probably thought he was the smartest director alive for subverting our expectations like that.

I thought Knives Out was decent enough, and Glass Onion was an attempt to be "subversive".

The issue with both movies is the very "2016-2020" characters that Rian writes.

I don't think you can get away with more modern audience characatures, hopefully the writing has evolved but with dipshit daniel craig still leading i doubt it.

100% agree.

Rian Johnson is the sort of man who masturbates in front of a mirror. Such a mistake giving him full creative control of EP8.

I'll watch eventually, but Rian Johnson....oof.

Looper was good, but he completely fucked up that Star Wars film.

I mean, he really did subvert expectations that a Star Wars movie would be a good movie that people would enjoy watching

to parrot most of the posts here…really enjoyed the first and not a fan at all of the second.

Will watch though…but this is the last time Johnson.

Finally some gd taste.

Both movies were enjoyable, I dont think the sequel was as good as the fiest but it was still a very fun and clever mystery.

Hoping for more of the same here.

Wow, his subversion is so clever, it works on multiple levels. Maybe next time he can make Star Wars X but it's actually an Indiana Jones movie, then he can subvert our expectations that we would see a Star Wass movie at all. It's so bold and innovative I can't even wrap my head around it.

I hate what Rian Johnson did to star wars...but I must admit that I enjoy these movies. They're just fun to watch for me. I even enjoy Glass Onion. Daniel Craig is fun to watch in the role.

Found both movies enjoyable. Found them quite clever. Not hard to solve, but clever in how they fabricated this fictional case.

Planck temperature* take: TLJ is my ESB (actually, ROTJ is, but TLJ is the one saving grave among the ST slop. Not hard, though, when that slop was written and directed by the world's most expensive human Xerox machine) and ESB my TLJ (Seriously, when I first heard ESB was considered good, I thought it was a joke or everyone watched a different movie, cause I hated pretty much everything and everyone but Lando (speaking of saving graces among slop). So much so that I didn't even want to bother watching ROTJ, which means I could have missed out on my favorite of the franchise. Rewatched ESB lots of times to see if I could find something more to like, and instead only found more to hate. I'd unironically rather watch the Holiday Special cause that one is at least ignorable)

But yeah, Knives Out. Liked the first two, will watch this.

First one was ok, second one was stupid. I remember it had a huge plot hole but I've already forgotten most of the plot and resolution from memory.

First one was fun. Glass Onion was trash and the twist was weak, made the mistake of making James Bond the main character instead of the ones just one step following the main pov in the first one
