Wal-Mart plans to sell $4 generic drugs. Pharmacy stocks plunge

Its not as big a deal as you guys think. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina offers all generic drugs FOR FREE. You go to any pharmacy and get your prescription filled and you will pay absolutely nothing. Many insurance companies are experimenting with this in order to get people using generic drugs as a huge portion of medical costs are from non generic prescription drugs.

But walmart and target prices are for everyone regardless of insurance carrier. Blue Cross of NC have restrictions and just promoting for now free generic to save money and move more customers over. Its like 3 months of HBO for 9.95 then they up the price.

Actually their plan has always been to keep it permanent provided it didn't kill them to do so. Given the option I'm certainly in favor of free generics and cheapies for people who can't pay, but clearly I like the "I don't pay at all" scenario more.

You do pay through taxes.
