Walmart has started to convert its Xbox sections to Nintendo/PS

Not sure how widespread this is, but it looks like Walmart has started to convert its Xbox sections to other things? Is this another sign of the impending discontinuation of the Xbox console line?

Last time i went to Walmart was probably a month ago. PS5 had 2 cases for games, not counting the console and accessories. Xbox had 1 case like this for games.

There's no way all these stores would be doing this simultaneously of their own accord. Microsoft told them something, something they aren't telling us.

I haven't been to my local store in a while, it was a bit barren for Xbox but not like that. I hate that place, I worked there as a teenager everyone is an asshole, "fit this entire patio set in my Camry" and one that had 4 pallets of landscape bricks in a Ford Ranger, it went exactly how you'd expect lol. That is when I knew I am going to college lol.

People are making some good jokes on this, but it's happening. My local Walmart is up the road from me.

I noticed this same thing earlier in the day while up there--this happens when they've begun a planogram switch. From what I can tell, they are selling what remains and replacing it with Switch, so my local store will have the same square footage for PS5 and Switch/Switch 2 once it's done.

Being that Sams recently is cutting them out, was only a matter of time before Walmart did.

My guess is the double price hikes caused sales to basically freeze, so they're moving on. I'd wager GameStop will follow suit, but I expect them to try and trudge through the holiday before they pull the trigger. They may not, though.

But it seems retailers are doing this of their own volition.

It's also weird that they are doing it right before the start of the Christmas shopping season.

You'd think they would want to push Xbox as much as possible through December.

Literally the only way Microsoft can pull off this console to pc transition is if they find a way to honor ALL Xbox one onward purchases and make them playable.
I agree (and I think Xbox agrees too), but as of right now the compatibility list for Ally X looks paltry.

Maybe in the future it will be better.

News must be getting out that restock is not longer coming. Xbox, where even the console is digital. :messenger_winking_tongue:

You would think that, but the price point of the system is a massive turn off at this juncture.

In this economy, where(and I know everyone is different) almost 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, it's a tall ask and a confusing naming system to boot.

The PS5 got a price hike, sure, but not two of them in the same year.

They want stuff that's going to sell in the season and thats PlayStation and to the most extent, Nintendo. Nintendo always does well in the holiday season.

I wrote this is a different topic but my local Walmart did this years ago, right after the holiday season. They've been directing customers interested in Xbox products to Walmart's website.
