I've always been bad with my taxes; I fucked up really bad in the early 90's and paid for it pretty much until a few years ago. I'm not used to actually being OWED money from the gu'mint, actually. So I sat down last night, totalled everything up... and it looks like they owe me a NICE chunk of change. Over a grand! But the idea of that makes my heart beat funny, so I want to have it professionally taken care of. I've never been to any of these places, though, so do any of you nice folk have any suggestions and/or advice?

What trips you up? Doing taxes isn't very difficult, unless you have numerous expenses, credits, income, etc. to take care of.

Heh, fucking NUMBERS in general trips me up! The only reason I'm not doing a 1040EZ this year is because I cashed out my 401k last year (times were tight) and I have a 1099-R I have to deal with now.

I wouldn't be too concerned if I was getting back $100, $200 bucks, but according to my calculations they owe me $1500+. It just seems too good to be true, and it would be nice to get some kind of cheap advice. Whether it be going into H&R Block or getting some kind of Tax software, I don't care, just something cheap (under $50). Does stuff like that even exist?

turbotax.com will take your through the process step by step, also, I believe you can get support if you have any questions, it will cost you about $30.

Basic gives you the extra guidance you need to claim more deductions — and reduce your risk of an audit.

Just answer easy-to-understand questions and it places your answers onto the right IRS-approved forms, gives you extra help claiming more deductions, and points out entries that could trigger an audit. Plus, get your refund the fastest way possible with e-file and direct deposit!

Best for Forms 1040 & 1040A.

All that for $9.95?! Hell yes. You rawk, Max Cool.
