I've talked about this before. The Speed Running Community is full of mentally ill people. I'm not even being derogative. It is a damned fact.
Also, GDC has always been cringe but at least it had more of a heart and was much more organic and didn't have all of this bullshit virtue signalling and nor was it sponsored by big brands. It's soulless and many of the people aren't likeable enough to sit through a speedrun.

That's why I just wait for the VoDs for selective runs or runners. Also, just watch ESA instead. That stuff is there too, but not nearly on the same level (yet).

Yeah it depends on the category, you're right it seems against the original spirit of the games but these kinds of exploits are how these players express their creativity and do impossible feats so I get it, it does feel wrong though.
