Want Your Xbox 360 Thoughts Out There?

I know this seems a little akward, but my site is prepping for a week-long Xbox 360 launch event, and we want regular message board snobs like yourself to give us your thoughts on the Xbox 360 to be posted specifically for the event.

Any takers?

Well, I'd say I view the Xbox 360 not as just a mere gaming machine, but more as a living entertainment experience. Being at the center of the living room, it'll will kick off the HD Era of high definition content. With a custom faceplate and the free Xbox Live Silver membership, I will make my Xbox 360 mine.

:lol

I'd also complain but anyone with a notable website or reputation has been spamming the hell out of their respective sites lately. Easy workaround: Get a friend on GAF to post the information for you. It's been working great for a lot of people and you won't look like you're spamming your own site.

The words... so familiar.
This is the Allard speech from a 'mine' perspective?

Your thoughts on the Tard Pack, anyone?

A great choice for the budget conscious. It introduces the Next Level of gaming at a traditionally accepted price point, while giving the consumer the flexibility of customizing the system later to meet their specific needs. It's this freedom that truly makes Xbox 360 yours.

I'm pumped about the Xbox 360. I like that it can play all of the old Playstation games, and that you can use it to download Nintendo games for free. I will also buy the new Halo for it when I go to buy one next week.

(This sounds awfully close to my current Xbox.. Xbox 1.5?)

Well played, sir, well played.

Let me get this straight: I respond to your post by telling you that this launch makes me feel young again and you insult me. I am not elderly, but I do have responsiblities and a family that often times remove me from the thrills of feeling like a 12 year old with a brand new NES. The X360's launch makes me feel like that kid again and WHY you feel necessary to dismiss my response as the ramblings of an incontinent elderly person is beyond me.

Ok I'm all out of cocky witty so I wanted to give you a quick "off the top of my head" style reply:

I feel that Microsoft has a decent launch ahead but is already stumbling out of the gate. A few months back the lineup looked fantastic with so many titles across a wide breadth of genres. They've unfortunately lost a lot of key players such as Oblivion, Ghost Recon, DOA4, etc from game delays. I'm hoping that they'll be out soon enough within the window of that special new console feeling (a few months) to continue making a good impression on the consumer and to further grow their user base.

With that out of the way I must say I'm pretty excited. It already has a few games that I have to play (PGR3, TES IV: Oblivion, Gears of War, Splinter Cell 4, etc.) and surprises that I never expected (Condemned, Ridge Racer 6, Blue Dragon, etc.). The other great aspect of the system is the fantastic OS (for a console) and the dedication Microsoft has for online gaming via Xbox Live. I think they're providing a good sampling of games and services but we'll see how it handles itself in the upcoming console war (again) but so far so good!

Nice pile on. I am surprised your hayseed father let you post his pic online though. Kind of reveals where your backwoods sense of propriety came from.

whoa, calm down there old-timer

:O

I cannot understand any of your World War II slang.

I am calm. A just double shot my geritol with some Jim Beam and put a pinch of cocaine in between my dentures. I've emptied my colostomy bag and I am ready for a long night in front of the computer playing cribbage with my buddies over at the elderly home across town.

I understand where you're coming from Denogginizer, but man, if higher quality shaders and higher resolution is all it takes to make you feel like a kid again, you might as well build a PC and upgrade the video card every year. I'm absolutely confident there will be some great games on 360, but I think they really dropped the ball on the majority of it.

It is the fact that a number of my friends at work are all taking that week off to get their sytems and we have said many times recently how we all haven't felt like this since the NES. Plus, the XBOX Live add-ons make this system very exciting for me.

What a horrible thread this (unsurprisingly) turned out to be.

It also doesn't hurt that it's a three-day week. I'm sure lots of people will be taking the week off.

Correct. But as I stated, they are taking the WHOLE week off AND getting an X360 AND we are sharing our enthusiasm. I don't doubt a few people will take that week off as well and NOT get a 360.

My thoughts? It's a machine built on mistake after mistake, and no sane video gamer should support it.
Aren't you a Nintendo fan? I thought all Nintendo fans did was support consoles built on mistake after mistake.

And even to a Nintendo fan, the Xbox 360 is a mistake. That's pretty fucking terrible.

The Xbox 360 offers next-generation technology, high quality games, a media hub, and the absolute standard for console online gaming services. The system will offer a game, feature, and experience for gamers of all types, both this year and beyond.

Indeed. No one even wants to play games these days unless you can control them by waving a wand around. Buttons are too confusing and chinese cooking simulators are the future.

Maybe MS should start losing their second party developers and exclusive third parties to competitors without replacing them. That would probably fix all their problems. Then, sane gamers like you might start supporting them.

Damn straight. And 4 or 5 good games a year is my limit!

*wipes sweat from brow*

I never once claimed wandchucks to be a good idea in the general sense. Not even in the "WELL NEW GENRES MIGHT HAPPEN LOL" sense.

But yeah, the Xbox 360 is a terrible system for the following reasons:

Overpriced hardware
overpriced software
unimpressive graphics when compared to a true next-gen system
two SKUs
shitty backwards compatability

Only people with some sort of mental impairment would see these things as some sort of good idea.

The system might be worth it when it and its games are half the price in a year. Or hey, they could do the Sega Saturn thing and package five games for $300 instead.

The funny thing is, everyone has been either copying+pasting official Microsoft descriptions of the console, or at least parodying them.

Although it may seem like another such attempt at first glance, I think SPeevy is being genuine.
