Good to see it happening one way or the other.

On the conspiracy theory front - I'll say this. There's too much smoke surrounding this issue to dismiss it as nothing but conspiracy. I think any person that's been following this story simply wants a clear answer. Whether it ends up with Trump being implicated or exonerated - it doesn't matter to me. I simply want it to be thoroughly investigated and I would prefer that to be done by an independent body. Bi-partisanship is well and good but we're talking about a foreign power meddling in our elections and the possibility of a campaign colluding with said power to make that happen. That's a fucking terrifying thought. Whether you happen to have an R or D next to your name it shouldn't matter.

Right. I believe Burr and other Rs in the senate feel the same way. The house having such a large GOP advantage was always going to make that investigation more difficult.

At the very minimum, we know that Yates notified White House counsel about Flynn's deception nearly three weeks prior to his eventual firing. Giving that testimony to the committee along with discussing the evidence that led to providing that information is already damaging and its clear she was coming into discuss just that. It's why the behavior of Nunes and the White House seems so crazy. You're right, they are amplifying this and it's almost a given that whatever she says is likely to be damaging to the White House regardless of their actions so WHY amplify it?

Pence seems smart now? News to me. Manafort pushed for Pence hard. It's reported that Manafort invented a plane malfunction to force Trump to spend the night in Indiana rather than fly back to NY to announce Christie as his Veep. During the extra night Manafort leaked to the press that Pence was the pick, completely undercutting Trump. If Manafort is in as deep as it seems, then the fact that Pence was his handpicked VP does not reflect well on Pence.

Pence also has strong connections to Devos, whose company is tied up in the whole Trump Tower server business. I would not be surprised if the Yates testimony that the WH seems desperate to silence involved her stating that she personally informed Pence of Flynn's meetings with Kislyak.

Flynn getting fired, Sessions having to recuse himself. You don't think it's worth looking into why so many people around trump seems to have so much contact with russia and then lies about it?

Maybe there's nothing going on, but the trump camp sure makes it seem likes it is with all the lying, deflecting and shady behaviour. And you should probably check the news more often if you think there's no legit journalists who are reporting and looking into everything that's going on, there is a reason why trump calls everything except far right media "fake news" these days.

And before you go all "left wing americans gone off the deep end" I'm not american, and newspapers outside america are factchecking and going in even harder on all trumps lies then your media is.


Edit: I see others have already said almost the same thing so my comment feels somewhat redundant. It's just getting a bit tiresome with all the "Both sides" and "nothing to see here" bullshit.

There's still very little evidence of Pence being involved or even in the loop. That he was able to be lied to by Flynn suggests he is the outsider on most matters with regards to Russia. Keep in mind he was also contradicted by Trump after his VP debate re: putting troops on the ground in Syria.

It would seem he was a strategic pick for his credibility with the anti-abortion crowd. Manafort might have actually been doing his job (in this instance) of trying to get Trump elected.

Edit: Nunes is painting himself into a really, really, small corner from which there is no escape. What is he hoping to accomplish? Why can't he simply give a straight answer with regards to anything in this investigation?

Can't wait for the 'clarification' in his next release.

So let me get this straight, Nunes cancels the hearing because according to him, Comey et al. Couldnt come there. Now FBI is saying they werent even invited? How is he still on the committee??

Pence can't really distance himself from Flynn with the Cummings letter on Turkey. It's also pretty questionable he Wouldn't have known about the Russian ambassador meetings given Yates.

This is actually the first I've read of the Flynn/Turkey connection. Lobbying for Erdogan of all people is pretty damn disgusting on its own, but then the lies on lies on lies...smh.

Everything that's gone wrong in the first 100 days of the admin picks has come from a dangerous lack of vetting. If we ever clean up this mess there's going to be a lot of changes in how people are screened for this shit.

Edit: But even this story points out Pence merely looking the other way when informed (by Cummings) of a possible conflict of interest from Trump's inner circle...not Pence taking part or hand-picking these guys. If that's the case, he's just as complicit as the GOP congress for letting the shit slide, but he's not explicitly part of the wrongdoing.

I don't think the meeting with Comey/Rogers was ever scheduled. I remember reading something to that effect.

With the sheer number of Trump campaign senior staff implicated so far, there's no way Pence wasn't at least aware of what was going on, which would be enough to oust him.

We'd be getting a politically castrated Paul Ryan instead, or Nancy Pelosi if he blocks this long enough that the impeachment happens after 2018 and Dems retake the House.
