Anyone here plays DOTA? It's probably the most remarkable custom game to ever spawn out of the Campaign Editors in Starcraft and Warcraft 3. Basically, the creator made this entirely new and unique game by using the Campaign Editor in WC3.
The game involves you choosing a hero right from the start and you have to work your way towards the opponnents' base. Creeps will spawn from your base and the opponents' base and will move along 3 predetermined lanes. Your hero can reach a maximum level of 25 and has three basic and one ultimate skill, just like the normal game.
What I like about it is that a complete game takes about an hour to finish. It's great when I need a quick gaming fix. But it's also extremely addictive as well. Most heroes are extremely well-balanced and there are all kinds of unique skills. The game is extremely strategic and involves a lot of teamwork. There are lots of different items to choose from and item strategies are essential to character-building since various items can be combined into more powerful "recipe" items.
Anyway, it's a really great game overall and I believe it truly deserves some recognition.
My main gripe? It's extremely hard to get a good game going on battle.net since lots of people choose to leave halfway through a game. 5v5 matches can quickly degenerate into 5v3 because some people choose to leave early when they screw up with their heroes. It's extremely annoying and is exemplary of one of biggest problems with online gaming.
