Only played the 2nd game but was interested in the base building aspect of the first (if I remember correctly). Will keep an eye on this.

Finallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Should have been done 10 years ago, but its here at last. Now we can finally have proper fucking wisdescreen support and remove that shoddy homebrew shit from the init file.

I was recently trying to replay my OG Dawn of War after seeing Tempest Rising, I wanted some RTSness but thought let me just go back to Dawn of War, could never get it to boot though........
So this is coming out at just the right time.

Seeing those cutscenes today, the me from 2004 couldnt even fathom how great they looked......today I could probably remake most if not all those models better.
Wish I could tell my younger self, one day youll be rendering shit that looks better than this.
(Not the animals, fuck animals, I leave that to the sculptors).

Do you hear the voices too???

But seriously some of those textures look straight outta 1999, did they really just pass them through an AI upscaler when they have like no detail in them?
Should have recreated them if the originals are lost to time.

Well mod support is in, so ill probably crack my hand at making detailed textures....though im sure the community will have them well before I finish my first Space Marine.

The models dont seem to have gained any polycount either, surely they could have created some normals for them to have more detail?

Watching the trailer, it's a pretty underwhelming upgrade, but it's still a good enough excuse to replay it.

I tried playing DoW within the last year and I had problems with widescreen, the resolution, the UI in general and especially the UI scaling. I'm happy with just those things being fixed.

Was hoping for some bigger visual upgrades but any I'll take any excuse to revisit this classic again. Looking forward to it!

Doesn't look too different and I still play the original from time to time. I'll still probably pick it up once it drops in price.

AMAZING!!!! Wonderful news regardless of how anyone can feel about remastered. It looks a little better but it maintains the aesthetic.

And the best part:
Upgraded from x32-bit to x64-bit platform

This right here, for anyone that have actually played the game recently with mods knows that just this makes it worth it. Big game mods like Unification Mod (basically, lets put all the last units of 40k and all the armies in it) is prone to crash because of how de code was build. Some armies couldnt be used on more that 2v2 because DoW would simply crash.

Unless Sega have an Aspyr moment, this is a total Sega/Relic rare W

Why does it say not yet available when it is unlocking in two hours?

Totally missed this announcement. Sounds like an amazing modern package. I'll definitely grab this.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition fully supports ultrawide resolutions, including 4K and widescreen, as part of its graphical and technical enhancements. This remaster also features upgraded unit and world textures (4x the original), a 64-bit platform, and an improved camera for a more cinematic experience.

Am I the only one who gives a shit about this?

I plan on playing it tonight.
I think everyone who uses the Ultimate Apocalypse Mod gives a shit about this since they finally moved the game to 64bit. So all the crashes and workarounds and shit you had to do to cram stuff into 4gb of RAM is now not an issue anymore.

Best game of this year so far! Gonna be nice playing the ultimate Apocalypse mod or Titanium Wars mod without crashes due to this being a 64 bit game now. With improved pathfinder and other things, it's going to be beyond amazing!!!

Dawn of War 4 should come within the next few years hopefully.

The fact that the CG models in the intro for this 2001 game looks better than the "official" W40K movie we got a 9 years later, tells you something.

Had no clue this is out today, time to purge some heretics.

So has anyone already tried if Ultimate Apocalpyse work out of the gate?

I hope this one turned out - I recall the Space Marine re-release from a few months back wasn't well received.

But this is Dawn of War. A classic. This deserves a top-notch remaster. If I wasn't flying out for Gamescom tomorrow, I'd just bite the bullet and buy it now, but alas.

Damn, i thought the price was $17.99 like in the OP.

Is this game as good as warcraft / starcraft? Can you play the campaign in co-op?

17.99 for us pervious owners of the dawn of war games.

But for 26.99, it's still a very good price for newcomers.

You get 4 games in one which are very replayable and fun. Plus the mods which adds new mechanics, features, and factions. But the base game already has a lot of faction.

I was also a big Starcraft 1/2 and Warcraft 3 player before checking Dawn of War and it's definitely as good and even better in some cases.

Finally I got it, kind of funny the wupsi dupsy that IGN did by putting the launch trailer yesterday. lol

And amazing the Veteran discount... tho I kind of feel old now that I write it.

Imo it is the best evolution of the Warcraft/Starcraft formula, i totally recommend it. And no, there is no Co-Op, the only one that has that mode is DoW 2, but that is more close to Diablo than SC or WC

Holy Shit! I loved this game! How did I miss this!

And I loved that utterly toxic masculine intro! Definitely one of my favourites!

So picking this up!

18 jiggabytes. Nice. I was expecting 80 for some reason.

Loving the nerd rage in the Steam reviews. This is why we can't have nice things.
