WarioWare Touched! 'Gamespots first impressions"

Pretty worthless impressions, but I supposed even gamespot phones in their articles here and there.

I should unlock more of the weird shit in this game. I haven't touched it since I cleared the final
WARIO MAN
stage.

36/40 from Famitsu baby. The first dual-screen killer app.

It's not really that awesome. Not killer app awesome, at least. I played it as much as I'll ever want to in about 2-3 days.

Band Brothers, on the other hand, is proving to be the DS game with true lasting power. I've spent the last few days working on an original composition (which sounds, intentionally, like a silly/poppy c64 song - think "Thing on a Spring"), and can't wait to play it with my DS-owning friends when they come to town for Christmas. On the single player front, I still have tons of songs to pass (it becomes very difficult and requires true note-for-note playing in its "pro" mode), and probably some stuff to unlock. As far as I can tell, I'll be playing it for months to come!

Bobby, how did you feel about the original Wario Ware? Just curious.

Can you please go into more detail about what Band Brother is all about, exactly?

yeah, the game is great. but not killer app good. although the game was easily my most wanted DS game, it's really just an 8.2 at best. not as frantic and fun and the first game in the series. having said that, the game easily accomplishes what im guessing IntSys made it out to be, and that's a super simple game that anyone can pick up and play without instructions.

I cleared Wario DS and then started playing for gold crowns on all the characters when I suddenly realized something: I wasn't having any fun at all. So I stopped. Prolly forever. Glad I realized this before I spent too much time playing all those games over and over.

Mawaru > Sawaru

So far it's been getting pretty good reviews and great impressions. What did you not like?

From what I can gather, "Fun but not AS fun as the previous titles nor does it stay fun for as long". There is nobody saying the game is bad, simply those saying it isn't some kind of killer app without flaws.

So you beat the game before you even realized that you weren't having any fun?

And you're glad you realized that before you played the game several times over?

This is not to say that I don't believe you, but it just had to be repeated. You come across as being halfway retarded. ;)

This should've been DS' launch killer-app. Frankly, I can't think of many other GREAT DS ideas -- it seems like it was made for Wario Ware.

im sure the game would've ended up better if R&D1 had made it. anyways, the game has such great style that the style alone justifys playing it over and over again a few times even after you beat it.

i don't mind playing it since it's such mindless quick fix gaming. but yeah, it's not as good as the rest of the games in the series. that much is easily noticable even after the first time you play.

still a good game though. just not as good as the first GBA one. chances are it's also not as good as the R&D1 developed game in the series.

In John's defense, it really doesn't take much to "beat" the game (which took me a couple of hours the first night I had the game), or even to unlock all the mini games (silver crowns)...I didn't even know you could get gold crowns (I have all silver crowns now) and I'm already pretty much done with the game.

It's entertaining but I guess being a sequel, it's not as fresh to me as the first Wario Ware...

here is the deal ladies:

if you play Twist before Touch, you will feel disappointed due to the fact that Twist is an amazing game, it captures the wtf feeling of the first and has a ton of stuff to unlock.

Touch, whilst still good, is an ok, less frantic experience. but if you havent played Twist, you havent seen where the bar has been set.
the very basic games in Touch, get boring after a short while, due to the repetitive stylus interaction, too many games have a 'join the dots' motiff. although there is some genius in there: the boss game where you draw the bounching platforms for the 'ball-man' is THE game that would sell the DS. unfortunately there isnt many more like it....

tbh its a 6-7. some great ideas, but very flawed.
Twist on the other hand is a 8-9, a wonderful affair and i would advise everyone to buy it over touch. you WILL enjoy it more.

I plan on getting both regardless... it'll just take NoA awhile to provide them.

Here's a question. By its very nature, is Twist even easily playable on the NDS? Obviously, the GBA SP is a much smaller, much lighter unit.

No, I mean, I wasn't having any fun going for the crowns. I had fun playing through the main game once, but the replayability this time around isn't so hot. Probably because the mini-games are way too easy. As someone else mentioned here previously, in Sawaru, the challenge is figuring out what to do in each game. Once you figure it out, the actual games are a cinch. So playing them over and over for high scores isn't all that entertaining.

twist is very playable on the DS, even more so than the SP i find, but then again im in my late 20's and my hands usually get cramped from prolonged SP playsessions.

i find that using the bottom screen is mcuh more effective, although you do look more of an ass to the untrained eye when you are doing a 'handheld 360'...

I see, I see. My bad. That's much more understandable, and far less inflammatory. :)

Replayability is everything in Wario Ware, so that's disappointing to hear.

Thanks Templar. I retired my SP, and was hoping I wouldn't have to bust it out again for Twisted.

you can make your own music in band brothers???

Yep, you can create original compositions. I'm not sure, but I think humming notes into the mic might be possible. That would be really, really cool....
