WarnerMedia Streaming Service Planned

On one hand we have yet another service coming. On the other it includes HBO which has never released in Australia. Too bad it’ll miss GoT. Could have made some good money here otherwise.

In a fairly major announcement coming just months after the wonderfully acronymed TWATT acquisition deal, AT&T has revealed that it plans to unveil a direct-to-consumer streaming video service featuring WarnerMedia’s films and TV series by the end of next year.

No details were revealed about how much the service will cost, what its name will be or the date it will become available. Nor is there any word as to how it will impact existing Warner-owned SVOD services like HBO Now and DC Universe beyond it being described as a service with HBO’s library as its anchor and a ‘collection of boutiques’ around it. One thing that is confirmed – it will not include CNN.

Nope. Already have Netflix and Hulu, and probably will drop Hulu since a bunch of studios are pulling their content off. Oh well, no more subs for me though.

Unless it's free, I doubt anyone will bother. Many people are already more than $30 in with their Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Subscriptions, they don't want to add 4 more services to that, on top of their monthly internet bill. I believe Free, Ad-supported services will be the future alternative. Services like Pluto TV are growing, YouTube for all its problems, is as popular as ever, and even Amazon is wising up with its Free Fire TV service. Companies need to start embracing the Free model in the future as nobody wants to keep adding their subscription costs from 15 different services.
