At first, yes. It took a week for DICE to fix the constant random crashes, but many people kept having memory leaks and "bf3.exe has stopped working" crashes until January/February of the following year.
Also, they kept breaking the game with every expansion launched, and we used to wait for a week or two for a new patch that would fix things.
At one point they somehow fucked up the damage the M26 Dart did (it did like, 120-150% damage or something) which became the weapon of choice for many people who could suddenly one-shot you with a shotgun from literally the other side of the map.
All in all, it was a pretty bad experience at first, by far the worst launch I have encountered, and that is why I refrained from pre-purchasing (or even purchasing) BF4 this time around.
