Was the Dino Crisis series any good?

I've never played any of the games, but I couldn't help but wonder. Was it basically Resident Evil with Dinosaurs? Is the series done? Any chance of a cross over series? Dino Evil with zombie dinosaurs and a 60 foot tall T-Rex/Tyrant hybrid?

Well I have Dino Crisis 1 JP, and you will not get through it without an FAQ. All the text is in another language.

How do you manage slogging through all the Resident Evil games? Almost all puzzles are text and item based..

Dino Crisis 2 was awesome. It may look like another RE clone, except it rewards you for actually blowing shit up. Fun action, fun game

Let's ask GameRankings...

-Dino Crisis (PlayStation) 83.2%
-Dino Crisis (PC) 64.8%
-Dino Crisis (Dreamcast) 70.4%
-Dino Crisis 2 (PlayStation) 80.6%
-Dino Crisis 2 (PC) 50.5%
-Dino Crisis 3 (Xbox) 56.7%
-Dino Stalker (PlayStation 2) 59.4%

It's sometimes a guessing game, simply as that. Logic is stronger than language barriers, IMO.

But what's the fun in playing a guessing game? The puzzles represent probably 70% of the challenge in survival horror. If "There is an eagle symobl above the empty slot" appears as just a bunch of cryptic Japanese text, how are you ever going to know that you need to insert the Eagle Crest? Yeah, you can run through your inventory, trying every single item until you hit the right one, but that's not going to be any fun.

Unless you've played it for so many years that you've gotten used to it and can predict. For biohazard remake, it was easy pickings for me. :P

So you're telling me that when you see a bunch of nonsense text, you can "predict" exactly what item you need to use? C'mon now...

If you want to spend your time struggling through a game in a language you can't understand, that's fine. But I don't think you should really recommend it to others. When everything is in Japanese, the cerebral part of the game is completely destroyed.
