I'm watching CNN presents..... even now, it's still 'not real' .....even after 3 years :/

the woman at the end of the last segment said that a little girl at the playground near the WTC said "look, they're doing it on purpose" .....

damn

erm....its not exactly funny.

anyway... i wonder what the aftermath would have been if congress / the capital / the hill (building) had been taken out.....even if everyone had been evacuated.

If they would have gotten Congress while it was in session, I can only imagine what would have happened next.

i turned on fox news yesterday and their coverage of the whole thing made me sick - they use the corniest 'action style' 3d titles about america 'rising up' and relive and replay the entire thing ad nauseum with meaningless 'expert' interviews about it - to me it feels like they're exploiting the whole thing for all its worth. sure, never let people forget about it - but their coverage is a bit crass.. well that's how it feels to me

but then again - it IS fox news :p

I still have the CNN tape from the day. From about 11am to 5pm. I haven't had the courage to rewatch it yet. It's sitting at the bottom of my VHS stack.

To be honest, the CNN special is pretty class. But most of the time, I think it's pretty over the top and disturbingly jingoist. You would think that nobody in the world had ever died before 9/11/2001 from some of the over-sensationalization that goes on.

Also, they've been running commercials over the last couple weeks for the 2004 commemorative "Freedom Tower" Silver Dollar, and it really just makes me sick.

I'm interested - in addition to what you just said, does FOX News seem to be promoting the idea that 9/11 changed the world? ie, that Americans should be fearful of another attack, and Bush, for instance, needs to go out there and take action?

I remember walking into World History during my Sophmore year of high school and seeing my teacher watching the first plane hit. Yikes, who could have imagine something like that. I seriously thought it was some movie trailer or something...all I saw was the Today Show logo and a plane crashing. Just insane stuff.

well, in a lot of their broadcasts as they're signing off, the anchors go, "remember america, be safe, be alert, and stay tuned to to fair and balance for all your news updates."

they also have all these graphics

WAR ON TERROR

over and over and over.

pretty much :p for a long time there they were making good use of that pathetic 'rainbow of terror' alert meter thing on the screen at all times, so i'm sure any chance they have to keep people scared about other attacks, they'll take it.
