Way late to the party: Gamecube

Dead To Rights
Sonic Adventue 2: Battle
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
WarioWare: Mega Party Game$
Gladius
Paper Mario: TTYD

Good variety there. Some exclusive, some not.

Glad to see someone else who likes their Gamecube.

-If you have never played MGS before, make sure to get MGS: TTS.
-Get Tales of Symphonia if you have the time to play an RPG.
-If you enjoy Metroid prime, get Metroid prime 2
-If you enjoy racers, try F-zero GX. Its not your typical racer, buty it kicks so much ass playing it in first person driving at 1000mph:P
-If you can get hold of either LOZ: Master quest or Zelda: collectors edition,BUY IT
-If you enjoy mario games, then buy SMS. Ignore the haters.

I agree with all of the other posts:

Must recommend-

Tales and Baten for RPG
DKonga, 4swords and WarioWare for multiplayer
MGS Twin Snakes if you are into the series
Viewtiful Joe 1/2 and alien hominid for oldschool
Pikmin 2 for all that is good in humanity

F-Zero GX: Man, I'll never understand the love this gets. Sure, it looks great with a great sense of speed, and the controls are, for the most part, spot on...

But I can usually play for about 15 minutes before I get fed up with just randomly getting tossed off the track for no apparent reason. It's not a rare occurance to fall through walls that you should just bounce off of, or spontaneously go flying up and off the middle of the track for no apparent reason, or get bumped into by one of the AIs, and sent flying up and over the wall. It's not a rare occurance, either. I usually end up having to restart a cup something like five or six times before I finally luck out and manage to keep the random insta-deaths to a minimum and beat the cup.

Pikmin 2 is a good game, but personally, I thought the first one was better. The removal of the time limit in the second one pretty much killed any challenge to the game, and the fact that you spend the majority of your playing time in tedious random dungeons instead of the beautiful overworld areas really makes the game feel more like a chore than the first one. I've been close to the end of the game for like six months now, and it looks like all I've got left to do is three different caves, but I just can't bring myself to sit down and trudge through all that stuff.

Cubivore: Once you get used to the controls and the transformation system, it's a pretty good game, and one of the weirder ones I've played in a while.

Metroid Prime: Excellent game. It's essentially a traditional Metroid title with a first-person perspective. Haven't played Echos yet, though...

Super Mario Sunshine: By far my least favorite Mario game. There's a few too many leftover irritating elements from SM64, like getting kicked out of a level after every Star/Shine you get. There are a few good moments though, and the areas where you lose your water pack are easily the best in the game, and some good platforming in general. Well, all except for the "Chuckster" one. I managed to get my fill of it on a rental, and haven't really had the urge to pick it up again.

Ikaruga: This one's a good little shooter, with a sort of puzzle element.

Hell, I'm almost late to the funeral!

So I picked up a Gamecube (Mario Kart bundle) yesteryday, the local Fred Meyer had them ridiculously cheap at $50, so I couldn't pass it up. Before last night, I had never ever played a Gamecube, heck, I hadn't even held the controller in my hands.

So far I've picked up (all used for $20 or less, aside from the full priced RE4 and the bundled MKDD):
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Super Smash Bros.
Resident Evil 4
Metroid Prime
Mario Kart Double Dash

I'm extremely impressed with Resident Evil 4 so far, it's an absolutely incredible game, even with the PS2 port on the way, I can't see why anyone would want to wait until the fall or whenever it's getting released.

Any recommendations for other games? At the moment I'm thinking about picking up:
Super Mario Sunshine
Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil 1
Star Wars: Rogue Leader

Pikmin 2 is a great game. Takes skill and strategy though.

Dunno if you know or not, since you didn't say, but 100% debt paid off is not the end of the game. I laughed pretty good after the 100% was paid off too. I won't spoil it, but it was cool.

Just want to register my extreme disagreement. Pikmin 2 fixed every single one of Pikmin 1's flaws and then proceeded to add on every Godly element one could need from a sequel. And an actual decent multiplayer component to boot. And an awesomely addictive challenge mode. And a decently long single player quest. And fantastic visuals. And more intense focus. Everything about it was better. Everything.

Pikmin 1? Mediocre.
Pikmin 2? GOTY 2004.

I disagree with the above post about REmake, unless you've never been able to get past the old Resident Evil camera/control system. It's the best Resident Evil game other than RE4.

Resident Evil 0, on the other hand, is pretty meh. I'd skip that one unless you're a big fan of the series.

Yeah, I'm past that. I'm in
the fifth area, and I've gotten all of the above ground treasures except for the dumbell that appears to require 100 purple pikmin. However, there's three caves left in the area that I haven't even started yet, and I really don't feel like doing it, as I found the caves to be EXTREMELY dull and repetitive.

I'm well aware that I'm in the extreme minority on this one, but overall, I gotta say that I preferred the original. The only reason that the single player mode is long is due to the fact that you spend 75% of your time carefully plodding through the dull-looking caves.

See, my favorite aspect of the original Pikmin was the task management and puzzles. Sure, they didn't get even remotely tricky until the very end of the game, but there were still some clever parts that required you to utilize the multiple colors well. The sequel has focused way too much on the combat, and while there's a really nice variety of monsters and some really excellent bosses, the caves just drag on for way too long, and it's just a big mess of fighting, which I got tired of about halfway in.

Of course, I seem to be the only person on the planet who actually liked the time limit in the first game. It gave you an actual goal to work towards, and instead of worrying about getting killed by the monsters, you had to worry more about keeping your pikmin populations up and doing things efficiently. The removal of the time limit in the sequel really killed all the challenge that the first one had, since there was really no way to "lose". Sure, you could slip up and lose a ton of Pikmin, but if they were any of the original colors, then you could easily replenish any that you lost over the next few game days with no penalty, and if you messed up and lost a bunch of whites or purples, then that meant more trudging around through the caves in search of flowers.

What's REmake cost these days? If it's $20 or $30, it's probably worth your time.

It's part of the $20 Players Choice lineup. I'll probably snag it one of these days, and I'll get Paper Mario, Tales of Symphonia and Metroid Prime 2 once they drop in price.

You're off to a good start. I highly suggest nabbing Animal Crossing. It's only $20 new now and it comes with its own memory card for saving (it takes up the full 59 blocks). It's highly original and different from anything else out there. If you give it a chance you'll be hooked!

I gave Animal Crossing a chance, so I don't think that's what is required to enjoy it. I think you need to be a particular type of gamer to like AC. :D
