We could be facing a reset of the era

Our living hostages are back home. Trump is about to speak about peace, a word we haven't heard in Israel in 20+ years. Then he will take off to Sharem-a-Sheick for a peace conference.

He ushered the Abraham accords, he hints at 7 more countries to join.

It could be a new era in the middle-east. I want to be hopeful.

You can lock this thread, but this isn't politics, it's bigger than that.

After two years of the worst nightmaire, hope is rekindled.

I remember the fall of the Berlin wall, and the release of Nelson Mandela. My hope reserves are low.

Trying not to be pessimistic, but I feel the same. Dunno how anyone is going to get two population groups that intrinsically hate each other to coexist peacefully.
Hopefully a lasting peace is brokered and they can cobble something together.

I hope thing will change in the ME. But...

Two years ago (after Hamas attack) I saw some old news from 1993 (from Polish media), of course it was talking about troubles in the region... History repeats itself, I think Jews deserve their own - fully peaceful and independent country after 2000 years of persecution. But at the same time, I don't think Israel (that is surrounded by enemies that want it destroyed) will ever have peace.

Given the radicalization seen in the vast majority of the Palestinian population, and some in the Israeli population, peaceful coexistence with normal borders separating the two nations will never happen. It is a complete pipe dream.

Clearly defined borders, separated by high, impenetrable walls, guarded and secured 24/7. The potential for hostility between these two people is higher than at any other moment in history. If we're going to do this, let's fucking do it, and give it every chance to succeed it can have. That's what I would do.

Jesus you obviously don't know much about the middle east if you think centuries of war and religion can just disappear cause the orange monkey tweeted it

Not a chance. People who hate each other this long with this many dead family and friends dont just stop hateing each other just because they signed a piece of paper. They have too much skin in the game.

Anyone who thinks this will last is willfully Fooling themselves or is wholefully uneducated on the matter.

Ah yes, peace in the Middle East. Sure, the Armistice Agreements, Camp David Accords, Oslo Accords, and Roadmap for Peace all failed, but I'm sure the Abraham Accords will stick the landing. Up until the next terrorist attack or Israel decides to bomb another country.
