Always loved this guy, he's so well spoken and motivates probably endless amounts of people with his talks.

Point of the thread is to post more of his material or others like him.

I will start off with this:

We stopped dreaming : Episode 1

We stopped dreaming : Episode 2

I got teary eyed seeing Carl Sagan in the first video, he was my hero in middle school, I wanted to be a cosmologist like him back then, it surprised a lot of my teachers. The second video really hits home, though, I'm in Conservation because of how my eyes to space looked back at my own planet, largely because of Sagan's influence. But the field has been made into a theater act by modern day activists, and scientist are meant to abide a narrative that distracts from the host of problems causing global warming by making global warming the main focus, when each little piece of the puzzle needs it's own care and attention. This gives me hope that I'm still in the right field, though, it's added a bit more wind to my sails.

Now I'm off to find and watch all of Carl Sagan's Cosmos again, followed up by Tyson's

I listen to this at least once a month. Growing up I either knew I would work with computers or the stars. Ultimately ended up choosing the former for monetary reasons but my true passion is in astronomy; thankfully being an amateur astronomer is a great hobby =). Carl Sagan is my hero and Neil is his successor.

Did his metoo accusation stick or not? From what I remember it amounted to some girls thinking the way he tried to seduce them was lame.

Dude brought astronomy to many people who would never have looked at it. Sometimes he was arrogant but mostly wanted to inspire people. He generally loves teaching space.

I think he's an arrogant asshole and his tweets used to take a lot of the fun out of things.
He got pretty woke. He said something particularly stupid awhile back too. Plus, I wasn't too crazy when he seemingly was endorsing socialism on the pilot episode of the new Cosmos season. I haven't watched it sense.

Prior to all that, I did like him. He has a good demeanor and seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Personally I like Michio Kaku.

It did, they did have sex, and he attribute it to not being sensitive enough to discern the situation.
And judging by his ignorance on context like when El Paso has 9 dead from shooting and he tweeted something like "malaria (forget the exact quote) kills more in an hour".... I'd say it is true. He is fucking stupid in terms of context and correlation.

blowhard

blow·hard | \ ˈblō-ˌhärd \
plural blowhards
Definition of blowhard

: an arrogantly and pompously boastful or opinionated person : BRAGGART, WINDBAG

… was trapped in a hellish marriage to … a struttingly insensitive macho blowhard.— Owen Gleiberman

But he was seen by many in Congress as a blowhard, given to long-winded talks bristling with allusions to the Bible, ancient history, and the Constitution.— Thomas E. Ricks

Sorry, but Michio Kaku is full of shit.
That Lex Fridman Episode with him, where he is just rattling down the same grandeur sounding nonsense he seems to always spout is so tiring.
I know he has some done some good stuff in his past (though String Theory seems to be more and more debunked these days), but these days he comes across as someone acting like a physicist to the public more than anything else.
Very hard to take him seriously for me.

NDT is not that loony, but still, so full of himself that it's aching. Watch that Rogan episode where he just talks and talks and talks, and never even responds to questions or even let Joe finish a sentence.

Cox has done some lame TV shit as well, but at least he seems a very humble and genuine person when being talked to.

Scientists should be read, not watched. Haven't met a pop-scientist who was anything more than a pop-scientist, from Bill Nye onward. Entertainment is fine, though. I don't blame them, per se. I blame the media corpos that managed to scoop things like "History" and "Science" into their branding, turning knowledge into yet another piecemeal episode to make people feel smart. These guys are smart enough to know a good deal when they see one.
