Question: does Batman Begins adhere to the continuity established by the other movies, or are they "starting over"? If the latter, I'm going to be really excited. I wouldn't mind one bit if Joker made a reappearance in a future installment. I never agreed that he should have died in the first flick any way.

They're completely starting over from scratch. And they're looking to do Two-Face and the Joker for the sequels.

Any idea how High Tension did? I can't imagine terribly well, but I'd like to believe one of the better horror movies in quite a while wasn't a total disaster...

Probably not too well, as it was hyped in horror circles for being one of the few legitimate NC-17 releases and then was cut to R. So I imagine that many like myself are just waiting the inevitable unrated cut on the DVD.

Went to High Tension earlier. What a disa-fucking-pointment. I'm going to talk about this movie now, and there will be major spoilers in the rant below, but let me save you the time and say don't fucking bother.

What was the fucking deal with this movie? I swear its like they made the movie, and then decided the ending wasn't shocking enough so they
made the main hero the killer at the last second. Nevermind that it totally disrupts the entire movie and makes the last hour and a half a complete waste of time. Point 1: What is the deal with the blowjob scene in the begining of the movie? It can't be the chick. It makes no sense. Point 2: How'd she get that rusty old truck? She clearly got a ride in with her friend. It makes no sense. Point 3: Why have the car-chase scene? It makes no sense.

This movie makes no fucking sense. Its the worst movie I've seen all year. I've never wanted my money back after seeing a bad movie, but this one is the exception. I seriously want my 8 bucks back. Because this movie was so fucking lame, I'm not excited about The Devil's Rejects anymore either. LGF can book one boner of a movie, so why not two? I really hope DR is better than HT. I really, really, do.

ROTS is on pace to hit around $380M (for comparison, AOTC made $55M from this point in its run until it left theaters, and its daily takes are lower at this point than ROTS, so it seems reasonable to assume that ROTS will make a similar amount before its run ends).

This makes the Prequel Trilogy the #1 trilogy in non-adjusted US dollars, followed by the Original Star Wars Trilogy and Lord of the Rings. All told, Lucas' saga has made well over $2 billion since 1977, just in the United States.

TPM: $493M
AOTC: $338M
ROTS: $340M so far (probably end up a bit over $400M)
ANH: $314M
ESB: $338M
ROTJ: $165M

These are overseas numbers only and are NOT adjusted for inflation.

Still annoys me that Batman Begins is supposed to be this dark, forboding look at the creation of the character.

Yet on Nick Jr they still have adverts for "whoo, batmans flying along. Fire the rubber missiles at the baddies and we'll all have jello for supper"

I know. :) Thanks. You know what's scary. I'm a bit of a movie buff but I'm more interested in Fantastic 4 than I am in Batman Begins.

The former just looks SO fun.

Sadly, I know a few retards that think just like you. I agree with Willco's prediction, Batman is hitting 80 mill tops(and that's Wed-Sun).

No way. I'll eat my hat if it only pulls in 80 mil over the 5 day haul. It's going to do around 80/112 I think.

The film isn't going to have legs, but I don't see why it's wrong to expect a big take it's opening week. It's going to be one of those films that the parents take their kids to see and end up enjoying it more than they did. Word of mouth will spread it's not really geared towards the younger ones and then the numbers will be down drastically.

Defintely a frontloaded movie.
