It's through the Hollywood studio system, so that means it costs 2-3x what it really should (and that's being modest).

The unions especailly ... you can't get even like a hair stylist in the Hollywood studio system without paying premium for one.

I agree with him. I would have expected a budget of more like 5-10.

I think you're being confused by the asthetic of the film. This isn't 2 guys making a road movie with a camera. See all those shots outside of the car? Guess how many of those there were. Okay, now factor in travel. Great. Production? Okay. Salaries? Got that. Editing? Production?

Blah blah. It adds up FAST. 18mil is a steal for a production nowadays. Don't forget union workers, legal representation.

18%. I actually just came in here to make my weekly "ZOMG The Departed has the best legs ever!" speech :lol . But it's true. It has dropped by SMALLER amounts each weekend, and its never had a bad drop to begin with. It has dropped 29%, 29%, 26%, and now 18%. Amazing legs for what will more than likely end up my #1 for the year.

I went to see Nightmare Before Christmas 3D. It was cool.

I saw the Departed. It was good, but too long and one scene was just downright stupid-funny.
