some of you know what's going on.....its a very unique thing that will happen.....

but yes, unfortunetly, i see this week as the week of the leak........

dropping hints.....like always....

Apparently he's an insider--and the wn mods are extremely careful about any people who try to impersonate people related to the band.

Of course, right now the big question is: hold out for the album, or get it asap? Hrrm.

Ding Ding. It's more invasive than infectious. You get it stuck in your head, but against your better judgment.

Here's hoping the rest of the album is superior.

Honestly, it's the most inspired Weezer song I've heard in many, many years.

And yeah, the album's gonna leak this week. Hopefully early.

AND IT'S OUT OF THE GATE

(on dialup, didn't d/l)

*Shitty recording
*People are ranking it up there with Blue/Pink, even going so far to rank it between the two

Impossible. Probably just album land-down hype. However this Star Power is a reliable guy... we'll see.

It's really really good. Seriously.

I don't doubt that it's good, but I just remember the talk before the previous albums along the same lines. Just taking it with a grain of salt, it would need to be incredibly good to be ranked up with Blue/Pinkerton.

Zilch is one of the guys who defended "Beverly Hills". Sorry, that song's objectively terrible. No way around it.

An album with a song as terrible as "Beverly Hills" cannot compare to Pinkerton. Don't try that.

The song is that bad. It's already an enormous pox on the album.

And it's not like being worse than Pinkerton is a bad thing. By most people's admission, being half as good as Pinkerton is a good thing.

Bevery Hills was terrible, but This is such a Pity makes me optimistic.

Hope I can hold out on the rest of it. Doesn't Ben Folds have one coming out like next week? Ought to tide me over.....

The new Ben Folds is excellent.
We've had an advance at work for some time.

Beverly Hills is better than anything on Maladroit. It's not a great song, but I enjoy hearing it on the radio (and that's what matters).

well not really...yet

As mediocre as Maladroit is, and though id rather not defend it, Beverly Hills is better than NONE of those songs.

Shit id rather listen to Possibilites than Beverly Hills. Its utterly dreadful in every sense imaginable.

Jeez... what do you people find so offensive about Beverly Hills?

the song...:p

it's just...ugh. I even liked it at first, before being overwhelmed at how...soul-less it is. :/

I'm clearly too easy-going with Weezer music...but for someone to insinuate that Beverly Hills is better than Keep Fishin'? Uh, no. It's not.

It's a catchy song. It's not interesting, it's not good, it's just catchy. It's like a really catchy bridge, repeated 3 times with a non-chorus. It has no nuance, no real interesting features, and is just THERE. I don't hate the song, but I don't know how anyone can find it really good either. It's a single that the kids will listen to on their iPods this summer and think they're all cool. And, for the sake of success, that might not be a bad thing for the band.

But, I like the Green Album, so what do I know? (But to insinuate it's BETTER than Blue and Pinkerton? Just wrong.)

beverly hills is complete dog shit

this is such a pity is better, but its not that great either. then again this is a muddy mp3 so maybe it will be better on the album.

i dont know what it is about weezer now, but when i go back and listen to green + maldaroit, i say to myself christ these albums aren't very good. blue album and pinkerton still stand the test of time and i enjoy them a lot to this day. i guess weezer jumped the shark

Longtime Sunshine is glorious. it's a shame that this album will just become way too polished by the time it comes out.

I will also leak this week, whillist enjoying listening to the new weezer. ...I hope I enjoy it. I thought the Green album was just their attempt at getting more dope money or something and when one of my favorite bands gets my money and provides me with something substandard, then I get pissy. However, I'm excited and I'll check it out. Thanks!

(looks forward)

I've listened to a couple of the bootlegs, and they're alright, but I'm gonna wait for a proper leak to form opinions.

On the subject of Beverly Hills, I think it's alright. It's their worst single yet, but it's not too bad.

Have you ever heard Hash Pipe? Keep Fishin'? Awful songs. It's certainly not great, but at least Beverly Hills is fun to listen to.

This Is Such a Pity is awesome, Perfect Situation is as well. Those alone already make MB better than the last two albums, plus it has potentially good tracks in You're My Best Friend, Peace, and Pardon Me. On top of all of that, Haunt You Every Day is supposed to be incredible. I'm still excited, but obviously anyone expecting Blue/Pinkerton quality is an idiot and bound for disappointment. If the band can stay together for one more album, that's going to be the one to have high expecations for.

A clean version is indeed out.

Edit: This is such a pity is indeed awesome. 5 songs in and this album is already better than Maladroit and the Green Album.

This is gonna be an awesome year for music, shit.

Best since 1999, I believe.

1999 had:

Metallica - S&M
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Santana - Supernatural
Rage Against the Machine - Battle of Los Angeles
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
Stone Temple Pilots - No. 4
Aimee Mann - Magnolia

vs:

Weezer - Make Believe
White Stripes - Get Behind Me, Satan
Kanye West - Late Registration
Beck - Guero
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Transplants - Untitled

Green came out in 2001.

EDIT:

How can you forget for 1999:

Blur - 13
Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
Fountains of Wayne - Utopia Parkway
Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break

To me the most interesting thing about the Green/Maladroit periods is that the songs they didn't put on the albums are probably better than anything on them (that said they do have a history of having incredibly awesome b-sides). Even the early demo of Take Control was much better than the album version. I'm just wondering what has been happening with the decision making on what will/won't make the cut.

I disagree. Hash Pipe is very good and what got me into Weezer. It's no freaking Across the Sea, but it's a very catchy fun song. Keep Fishin' is only slightly better than Beverly Hills.

BTW, torrenting clean leak. Excited as hell :)
