Weezer this and Weezer that, but Everclear was better...

Two pop rock bands from the mid 90s. Both had two good albums followed by decades of garbage. Why do we have to keep hearing about the next Weezer (insert color here) album, but Everclears crappy records are rightfully ignored? It's time we restore the good name of Art Alexakis, who is a sinfully underrated song writer. The man could pen some heartbreaking lyrics.

Three hits:

And three deeper cuts:

All around even with all the trash Weezer is a better band. Everclear had some big hits but couldn’t put together a good full album. (Sorry)

The Blue Album, Pinkerton, and the Green Album were the trifecta for Weezer.

If Sparkle and Fade is not at least a "good" album, then I don't know what to tell you.

Anyway, voted Everclear, but truth be told, am not too familiar with Weezers work.

They were both overrated. They both hit at a time labels were desperate for another Nirvana. Everclear at least wasn’t pretentious.

I dont remember Everclear ever being rated at all despite the fact I love their music. So Much For The Afterglow and Sparkle and Fade are two of my all time favourite albums.

Weezer on the other hand I never understood and still dont.

Wonderful is pure cringe.

“Hear them scream, hear them fight, say bad words and make them want to cry.”

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Everclear had a definite knack for making catchy pop-y songs that were about completely fucked up shit. Also, in my experience, they didnt have insufferable fans so I voted for Everclear.

Weezer wasn't the best, but at least they felt like they belonged as an alternative band. Everclear and bands like them were terrible and were the reason good grunge and alternative music went to shit.

Other crappy pop bands from the time period are:

Better Than Ezra
Third Eye Blind
Gin Blossoms
Wallflowers
P.U.S.A
Sugar Ray

I love Weezers blue album. In the garage lyrics hit home for me

I've got a Dungeon Master's Guide
I've got a twelve-sided die
I've got Kitty Pryde
And Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do
I've got posters on the wall
My favorite rock group Kiss
I've got Ace Frehley
I've got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do
In the garage
I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage
Where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage
I've got an electric guitar
I play my stupid songs
I write these stupid words
And I love every one
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

I only know like one Weezer song and have no idea who Everclear was.

Has Everclear ever played with Nerf Herder? Nerf Herder has a song about playing with Weezer but no songs about playing with Everclear.

Pretty obvious from the song that its from his perspective as a child.
I was unlucky enough to suffer through the releases for those albums. How could anyone forget that it was from the child’s perspective? It is possible to do that without inducing cringe, but even back then, the lyrics were a running joke. Sad that people have forgotten.
