I really hope some one gets to hold that controller and tell us what it feels like. At this point I'm just scared. It looks like a horrible attempt by someone in the 1950s to imagine a video game controller from 2025.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sold on the thing.

i still think a lot of you have gotten carried away just from some realtime tech demo's. other than GT5, which PGR3 owned, you have seen no realtime in game gameplay being played.

and i'm sorry, but there is just no way to play with that controller. it's just... fucked.

and what happened to the last 4 years of you screaming 'its not about graphics, but all about gameplay"? now all a sudden graphics are everything to you?
 
I would turn in my mother for entertaining the thought of purchasing a console other than the almight PS3. THE KUTARAGI, THE HARAI, AND THE HOLY PLAYSTATION.

I just recently registered to this forum a few months ago and this whole "One console future" schtick has played itself out. *shrugs* Whatever entertains you guys.
 
If one console ever has every game I want to play, I'll support the one console future. Until then, just buy the machine that has the games you want to play.

if stuff like Killzone 2 and Motor Storm are indeed using realtime graphics (as some sites are reporting) its just as much gameplay as we've seen in something like Gears of War.

Why is it fucked, Its just a more argonomic DS2? Are you that superficial that you would turn your nose up at a controler based on how it LOOKS?
 
The controler is uncomfortable to look at--almost as if Sony fired all of its controller makin' staff and brought Madcatz's dev team from 1998 into its employ.

But then again, if it works well, I wouldn't give a shit. I have to say though, to avoid ridicule from my friends I'd probably buy the first replacement offered by Logitech. :)
 
I work at a game store. All I can think from the salesman's perspective is how annoying it will be to find space for that controller on the wall. I'm sure it would fit nicely next to the original XBOX controller and the entire Sega Dreamcast.

Haha, I agree, my first reaction was "good god wtf is that??" but if you think about how it would feel in your hands, the bigger grips seem much more comfortable, at least it seems so to me.

actually, i've played with this controller before... back on the PC there was the almost identical design. it sucked ass back then and everyone hated it, which is why it died out so fast.
 
I did too but it was becuase the buttons sucked more than anything and of course the design of the grips were more akwardly positioned.

I think Sega's FPSer screenshots rapidly put the brakes on the hype and bought PS3 back down to non-rendered reality. An impressive machine though. Decisions...decisions. Microsoft, help me out here! :|

Yeah, those screens scream xbox360. I'm surprised they'd put a game like that on PS3.

i actually thought it is quite close.

anyhow, despite the asstastic desgin. nothing major was fixed with the controller. still no analog triggers (or at least proper ones), still shitty analog sticks with domed tops, still in secondary position. no headphone/mic jack. no extra buttons or functionality (sans wireless). nothing new except the shitty new design.

and only 1 day battery charge? wtf!

Don't forget, it was ALL about the graphics when PS2 was introduced too. If they don't remember what was promised vs what was delivered, you aren't gonna be able to help them.

Same shit, different decade. Call me when launch hits, for all these systems. No point in choosing sides until then.
