I have a friend who has family in the Czech Republic. She’s worried about her family and the COVID situation. American news outlets have had slim news about the situation. How bad is the political situation there? What are the people’s reaction to the situation? My friend says people are still taking ski trips and not really caring about spreading the disease. Is that true?

There is newly implemented restriction akin to to the first wave of 'rona, so we will see how it goes.

I just took a vacation to a ski resort in Oregon. There was no social distancing whatsoever on flights. Hopefully your friend is smart enough to wear a mask. Are they young or healthy? If so, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Not from the Czech Republic, but your friend and her family should consider talking to some doctors about a prescription of Ivermectin for preventative care (prophylaxis) as well as to take if they have symptoms or have contracted a virus, just to be safe

There was a Panasonic facility here which was build for CRT TVs and they repurpose it. Here they work with foxconn factory, which prints them PCB for players and other shit. But anyway any other shit is there supplied from China. And since there is a foxconn here, those high-end motherboards for ASUS, MSI, etc are build here, but not sure to what extend.

Its pretty normal here really, I live in Prague and situation is as it was since the beginning (bar a few new dumb and pointless restrictions). We still play D&D and Warhammer, go to restaurants and drink at bars, you just got to know the right people or know where to look. By this time basically everybody had the virus, we have officially over 1 million out of 10 milion who already had the disease but from personal experience almost nobody admitted it or got tested in fear of staying home and having to go through all the paperwork associated with it. Out of all the people I know who had it (over 100 now) only about 10 got tested positive while the rest of us had the same exact symptoms (high temp, loss of smell and taste, headaches, fatigue etc.) but without going tested. If you take that and add all the people who are asymptomatic I don't think there are that many people left in our country who didn't have the bug at least once.

They have been saying this shit from the beginning. My mom works at the biggest hospital in the Republic that treats Covids and tells me that everything that they say on TV is pure bullshit. Doctors aren't tired, not the nurses, nobody. They actually have way less work now then before because all non-essential operations and preventive care has been canceled, only emergency operations are carried out. I have visited her hospital many times since this whole thing started and almost nobody is wearing any masks at the hospital.

It's just going too far with the lockdown measures imo, especially now when we know how serious the threat really is (or rather really isn't) and when more and more people are getting vaccinations. Some light restrictions for social distancing to drop the number of new cases - sure. Going full lockdown for three weeks (or more) - why?

Because we have a ton of dead people and full hospitals, it's really not good. I think we are leading the world with cases. Sadly vaccination here is really slow so far only people above 80 got vaccinated and some medical staff and teachers, so everyone else is waiting. So not sure why it takes so long.

Political situation is bad, Babish (the current prime minister) is incompetent and corrupt (his friends are making real bucks on health supplies), the opposition (ODS and the whole lot) are naysayers and obstructionists, but when push comes to shove, they yield. Opposition relies on people´s short memories since it is an election time, and are trying to come acrosss as the good guys, and they currently have abyssmal percentages.

You misunderstand, firstly the Colt deal was made to bail out the Colt Company and transfer the knowhow to US.
The Czech guns ARE quality, but these are made on technology of decades past. Again, they are good, but old, new guns made on new technology are nonexistent. Škorpion is from 1960´s, UK vz. 59 from 1959, and so on. Czech guns are of high quality, but made in the past. When you think of Czech guns you rightfully so, think of old greats, but not new ones, AND that is my point.

Countries that weren't affected deeply by rona last year are suffering more. greece/poland/ukraine/portugal/czech/switzerland/serbia/hungary/denmark all have similar curves (with different degrees between them but with a strong aggravation in comparison with last year).

It's almost like they had less....immunity.
