Norton and AVG. They both find stuff the other one doesn't, which kinda sucks.

AVG is cool and all, but I get pissed off when it gives me a virus warning (about 20% of the time but still).
"VIRUS DETECTED !"
"Heal file"
"Cannot Heal file"
"Delete file""
"Cannot Delete File"
"Move to Vault"
"Cannot Move to Vault"
"....FUCK.... continue"
"ANOTHER VIRUS DETECTED!!!"

And repeat.

Panda Platinum Internet Security. Got it for $20 from Newegg. Awesome AV software. Rated almost as invulnerable as Kaspersky, which never goes for below $50. Love the realtime scanning.

First I had Dr. Solomons. Then I got Norton. Last year I had Norton 2004, but those damn reminders and stuff kept bugging me every day no matter what I did so now I've been antivirus free for almost a year. I don't think I've had a virus during that time. But I really don't do anything dangerous. I don't use any mail client, I check my emails online and delete everything that I don't know what it is. I would use Norton if I have too.

I don't, usually. Just the other day I went to some site, something pops up and it starts giving me virus warnings galore... it was weird and nothing it was warning me about could be solved.

I don't know why my comps a virus magnet. I use Firefox, I have Zone Alarm running full time with Microsoft Antispyware to warn me about bad programs. Still, when I scan my computer I usually find 5-10 viruses a month. Just weird, but that's why I have two virus checkers and 4 spyware checkers.

I tend to use AVG, but it seems to require being installed with the memory resident portion... I just want a utility to scan for a virus manually.

none. I give it an online virus scan every once in a while though, usually when my pc is acting up or working a bit slow.
I haven't had a pc virus in a long time, it must be firefox or/and my firewall.

I don't use any, I'm on Linux. But in Windows I don't bother to install anything unless I have something important. I would probably opt for Norton Antivirus or something and I would definately not let it run in the background all the time.

McAfee Security Suite (Firewall, antivirus, spam filter)

Never had a problem with it, it updates regularly and it's found possible viruses before they could do anything

AVG

I reimaged last November and before that AVG had detected two virus's within two months of each other and removed them both. Since the reimaging I've had zero popups, spyware files or viruses. Of course I had some spyware during the first twenty minutes of reimaging, but after everything was cleaned I've been able to keep it that way.

Firefox w/AdBlock
AVG (yes it does automatic updates and scanning)
Spyware Blaster
Custom HOSTS File
Netgear Router
Adaware SE

This has all kept me clean. Still runs just as good as it did after the reimage too.

Norton 2002 Corporate Edition. :lol

My law school offered it as a free download when I went to school. Is there any reason to upgrade to something new?
