What are some other "Doc Holliday" characters in media?

Men_in_Boxes

Snake Oil Salesman
A character that should be hanging out with the bad guys, but has an unbreakable loyalty to a morally virtuous character...thus making him/her a defacto "good guy".

What other characters in media fall in this group?

Antiheroes. Characters who do good things for the wrong reasons or bad things for the right reasons.

Wolverine. Han Solo. Jack Sparrow. John Wick. Deadpool. V for Vendetta. Dexter Morgan. Loki.

You could argue that Tony Stark/Ironman from the MCU fits this mold. He really acts more like a tyrant than anything else, he is almost forced to do good at times and is mostly just cleaning up his own messes caused by his hubris. Pepper, spidey, and Cap seem to act has his external conscious and he is about 2 steps away from "I'm gonna put everyone in a really comfy jail cell for their own safety" type of magic tech solution.

Batman of course, its his memory of his parents that centers him (maybe the influence of Alfred), which is why he goes a bit nuts when someone says "Martha..."

Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds from Firefly in a thief with a code. Bad but ultimately good.

Same with Han Solo, should be a bad guy, but he is a good guy despite his circumstances.

Too easy but maybe Arthur Morgan in RDR2?

Heck, John Marston in RDR1. Killing LOTS of people but it's for his FAMILY. Ask Vin Diesel if that's the right reason!

I liked Wyatt Earp in general but you gotta let the energy of Tombstone dissipate a bit IMHO. Maybe slip Silverado or Open Range in there first.

You were right... I shouldn't have watched it right after. I spent 10 mins crying and I'm low-key depressed.

Amos Burton from The Expanse comes to mind. Basically a psychopath who pins his moral compass on one of the main characters because he himself has none.
I haven’t read the books but in the show he isn’t a psycho in my mind. Brutal, for sure, but not without conscience. I always assumed his brutal childhood caused him issues with parental figures (good and bad) this causing him to adopt an almost child like attachment to those that would treat him fairly. He’s one of my favourite characters in the show, maybe the books clarified it?

Ooooooohhh yes, the Amos from the books is muuuuuch darker. They tweak him a bit later on to be more on the autistic side kinda, but I think thats just because they like how Wes played him in the show.

Such a shame how that show ended.
