2. Super Bowl XXX. Neil O'Donnel to Larry Brown for 2 TD's. Steelers were driving for the go ahead score at 20-17 on the second one. I will never forgive him for that.
"Please welcome Neil O'Donnell, our Super Bowl XXX MVP from the Dallas Cowboys...wait,
what team does he play for?"
Karma's a bitch, though, as O'Donnell found out in the offseason; he signed with the Jets and quickly went down with ligament damage that sidelined him for the year before playing a regular season game, as I recall.
For the Super Bowl game, his "show me the money" antics, and his blatant encouragement or Kordell that would mess with the team for years to come, we can never forget.
Vancouver Canucks vs New York Rangers 1994 Game 7 Stanley Cup Final, 3-2 loss. Bishop already outlined everything.
A part of me smiles every time a New York pro sports team loses, just because of that game. It pretty much heralded the 90's dark era for the team since Bure was on his way to knee damage and the team would then run into one of the hardest sports losses I can recall: 1995 second round series vs. the Blackhawks. To this day I still can't figure out why the refs suddenly felt that calling the crease rule to the letter was needed.
On the other side that year was also the gross referee incompetence shown as the entire Nordiques franchise was killed by a single bad call in a game versus the Rangers. The Nords may not have won the series anyway, but I've talked to a few former Nords fans over the years, and their fandom died in apathy that night.
