just upgraded to a a64 3200+ (oc) with 1 gig of ram and an x800xt here, so i should be fine

Depends on what rez you wanna run it on. Probably on a low rez with graphical features turned down. Watching the vids the terrian distances look insane.

Im R500 or N50'ing for this game along with a athlon or Pentium 64bit.

RAM man, RAM. You can have a very happy and smooth fragging in a low-res like 640, with textures and effects down etc. but 256 MB of RAM WILL. KILL. YOU.
0.5 GB should be a reasonable minimum (and it's damn cheap), but if you can - go for 1 GB. Windows will "work" faster too.
