I just started Freakonomics. Supposed to be great and insightful.

Only about 120 pages in, and I don't know if I like it or not yet. I loved Ilium, the first book in the two-part series, but this one seems a bit too clever for its own good at times. I think it's because it shines through pretty often that Dan Simmons is extremely aware of how clever he is, and therefore wants to show it as often as he can. Oh, well. Lots of excellent parts too, so I'll probably end up liking it.

Just finished reading this:

Insanely good Probably the one book I've enjoyed the most all year.

This will probably cause some stir of resentment when it's published in the US, but it's a great read and I feel Americans should read it, no matter what their opinion. Schama is a genuinely brilliant historian and writer.

I'll probably be reading Rose by Jeff Smith soon. I got it from my sister today for my birthday.

Good thread. Alot of posts have some interesting looking books I think im going to look into.
