Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.

It's October! Which is nothing special, just another month in a seemingly endless cycle of repetition, but it also means Halloween is coming up.
I like to use that as an excuse to watch, play and listen to as much spooky stuff as possible.
From It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! to Alien and The Frighteners.

I've already seen Army of Darkness and I plan on watching a lot of Addam's Family episodes.
I just finished a movie called The Awakening which is an old-fashioned ghost story, though not a very good one.
It featured some wonderful imagery and was well-acted, but the actual story was quite weak.

I'd like to start this thread with a very obvious recommendation: Francis Ford Coppola's amazing interpretation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

There are a lot of Dracula films but for me, this is the best. It features Gary Oldman as the famous Count and it's a stunning performance.
Keanu Reeves is without a doubt the weakest link in the film, terribly miscast, but if you can look past his dreary performance you will find an incredibly atmospheric film.
Not the scariest flick, but it really doesn't have to be.
A must see if you enjoy Gothic-Horror. Beautiful film.

I would love to hear what NeoGaf's favorite spooky, terrifying or Halloween themed movies, shows, books and videogames are.

From the fun and spooky to the macabre, share your recommendations below.

Since I won't do a long list of my favorite horror films again, I'll stick to Halloween-themed ones:

Movies:

Halloween 1, 2 & especially 3
Trick r Treat
Nightmare Before Christmas
Ginger Snaps
Night of the Demons
Sleepy Hollow
May

Games:
Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3
Alien Isolation
Resident Evil 1 and 7

Quantum Leap, The Halloween episode during the third act reveal.

Dean Stockwell gave me legit chills and still does, despite being TV friendly, having no violence, blood...anything. All mood and that voice.

I really liked Penny Dreadful but man that series finale was poop, way too rushed(the last season as a whole)

Hocus Pocus is a must watch ever October.

Aside from that, I don't have too many Halloween classics that I watch all the time. I think I'm going to try watching those old Universal horror movies this year, like the original Dracula and Frankenstein.

I adore slasher movies like Friday the 13th and Sorority Row. There's just something inherently fun and silly about them.

American horror story. Different types of horror in one show and the story does very well to link them all up.

The Witch's House, a 2012 RPG Maker horror game (also it's free)

It really proved to me that you can be unsettling, horrifying and shocking as shit with simple 2d graphics. It's free and absolutely worth a playthrough or two

Also worth checking out similar RPG Maker games like Ib and Mad Father

I've watched a few LPs of it, Corpse Party is very character and dialogue-heavy, and is a bit more comparable to Ib and Mad Father, and is closer to a Visual Novel with RPG-esque exploration. Longer than these indie titles as well.

It's also brutal and gory as shit, hope you don't get too attached to the characters...

Witch's House is more about a barrage of awful things with minimal storytelling (there is story but it doesn't feel like the focus)

I have played Corpse Party, so I guess I will need to try them, especially Ib.

Movie
Alien. A classic thay is tough to beat. Lately, I have been enjoying lower budget, so so thrillers. Coherence, the Invitation, and Hush come to mind.

Some Black Mirror episides tickle that itch (White Christmas).

Books
Peter Watts' Blindsight. The scariest sci fi book I have read. Super well done.

Games
Dying Light is a favorite, as is RDR: Undead Nightmare.
