Still have another seven months left, but whatever.

My picks:

1. Cry Me a River, Justin Timberlake
2. Be Mine!, Robyn
3. My Love, Justin Timberlake
4. Work (Freemasons Edit), Kelly Rowland
5. Hung Up, Madonna
6. Crazy, Gnarls Barkley
7. Gimme More, Britney Spears
8. More Than a Woman, Aaliyah
9. Lose My Breath, Destiny's Child
10. Finest Dreams, Richard X f/Kelis

Depends... would you consider Maroon 5 to be pop? If so, This Love tops the list. Would Hey Yah! by Outkast count as pop? If so, that's number 2.

Justin Timberlake's Love Stoned, Rock Your Body and Señorita shit all over Cry Me a River and My Love, by the way.

1. Justin Timberlake - My Love
2. Kanye West - Stronger
3. *NSync - Bye Bye Bye
4. Taylor Swift - Our Song
5. JoJo - Leave (Get Out)
6. Usher - Confessions Part II
7. Lloyd - Southside (ft. Ashanti)
8. Mario - Let Me Love You
9. Outkast - Hey Ya!

Maroon 5 is definitely pop, and definitely shitty. :D

I'd count Hey Ya! as pop, for sure.

I like all of those JT songs, but none of them would even be my number three for him (What Goes Around/Comes Around) or number four (Like I Love You).

Sorry but, there is no best pop, radio songs this decade. Worst decade of radio music ever.
Seriously. You have to hang out on internet forums to find the good/decent music nowadays. Radio music has been total shit for quite some time, even for radio music.

1) No One, Alicia Keys
2) Umbrella, Rihanna
3) Hung Up, Madonna
4) Irreplaceable, Beyonce
5) Feel Good Inc., Gorillaz
6) Mr Brightside, The Killers
7) This Love, Maroon 5
8) U + Ur Hand, P!nk
9) The Sweet Escape, Gwen Stefani
10) Paper Planes, M.I.A.

Not this argument again. I'll listen to "radio music" from any decade, except the 00s (excluding hip-hop which I don't really follow). It was just awful. You really had to dig for any good music the past number of years.

Big fan of Please Don't Stop the Music, as well.

Hmmn, Please Don't Stop the Music got on my nerves after a while and I can't listen to it these days.

I realised that in making my list I forgot all about the early 00's - songs like Bye Bye Bye, Try Again (Aaliyah) etc.

Funny, I love all the songs I posted for my list and a hell of a lot of others.

I get it, people like to shake their fist at contemporary pop music. People did it in the 90s, they did it in the 80s and further back - and they'll be doing it the next decade, too.

american boy by estelle featuring kanye west.....first time i heard that song was during a TRVSDJAM show and it was still catchy as hell. the original is even more catchier.

Umbrella from Rihanna is either 1 or 2. It is perfect. Otherwise, tons of stuff from Madonna and Timberlake as well as Green Day (yes I went there).

Totally feeling you. As usual, Ye's rap really makes the song for me.

I disagree. You're just biased because the radio tends to overplay songs to the extent that they kill them. You'll come to appreciate these songs in ten years' time as part of the soundtrack to your life.

My list:

1) This Love - Maroon 5
2) Hey Ya! - Outkast
3) Pump It - Black Eyed Peas
4) Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
5) Love Stoned - Justin Timberlake
6) Irreplaceable - Beyonce
7) Get the Party Started - Pink
8) Fill Me In - Craig David
9) One of the Boys - Katy Perry
10) Viva La Vida - Coldplay

Honourable mentions:

Every single song on Maroon 5's first album, Songs About Jane
Mr Brightside - The Killers
Mario - Let Me Love You
Don't Call Me Baby - Madison Avenue
Caught Up - Usher
Groovejet - Spiller (feat. Sophie Ellis Bextor)

F**k It - Eamon
F.U.R.B. - Frankee
Advertising Space - Robbie Williams

There are tons of gems out there though like with any genre. Except 5th wave post-grunge. That is fucking gross. Or nu-metal.

If those count as 'pop' I would pick those...

Hm. Pop, you say? =)
1. Today the Sun's on Us
2. Me and My Imagination
3. Is It Any Wonder

I prefer not to list the rest of her songs, but I like the following: Mixed Up World, I Won't Change You, Murder on the Dancefloor, Music Gets the Best of Me, Get Over You, If You Go, Love is Here, New York City Lights...

1. Kelly Clarkson - Since you Been Gone

9. The Killers - All These Things I have Done

I have a terrible memory when it comes to pop songs, but Clarkson would be my number one pick, too. There hasn't been a single time since I first heard it that I've felt compelled to do anything else but crank the volume up and sing along like a fool, even in public. I love it. The Depeche Mode mashup is pretty fantastic, too.

That Killers song, while not necessarily a favorite, is the only thing of theirs that I still enjoy quite a bit, most likely due to the chorus that'll get stuck in your head for days on end.

Since U Been Gone is fucking amazing.

As for a whole list, I'm apprehensive. Ironically, the word "pop" is about as vague as the word "indie" these days, so placing any music into this category is usually problematic. We've been taught that if a song is on the radio, it's pop, and if you've never heard of it it shouldn't be pop. What about a relatively obscure contemporary song that embraces the sounds of past "pop"? Does that count? Or things that are popular yet generic, like Hinder or Nickelback?

10 Tullycraft - Christine, ND
9 Tullycraft - Orange Cake Mix
8 Tullycraft - Leaders of the New School
7 Tullycraft - Molly's Got a Crush on Us
6 Tullycraft - Glitter & Twang
5 Tullycraft - A Cursed Miss Maybellene
4 Tullycraft - Gill About Town
3 Tullycraft - Wild Bikini
2 Tullycraft - Georgette Plays a Goth
1 Tullycraft - Secretly Minnesotan

I hate to come into this topic with a negative post, but really? The only song that I can possibly agree with on that is "Hung Up," and even that I'm a bit skeptical of in terms of "best" pop songs from the past decade since I think "4 Minutes" is slightly superior. And "Gimme More," seriously? "Circus" is a much better song as are most of her other hits.

.

one of the single greatest pop songs ever written. to be fair to her, My Life Would Suck Without You is also excellent, but Long Shot is probably her best pure pop song off her new album and closest to the insane quality of Since U Been Gone.

My favorite song listed so far. I think the Killers have to get a vote too, all they do is crank out hit singles. "Somebody Told Me" was their first breakout hit.

Don't forget Coldplay was born in the 2000s. Their first single "Yellow". The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army", that famous bassline is played at ballparks around America to this day. Fall Out Boy is synonymous to the 2000s too, with their crazy hooks.

Look as I willfully admit listening to pop rock. That's a mentality that's changed this decade for a lot of people.

Anyone who bases their opinion of music on anything other than the way it sounds and/or its message is a fool.

You think I'm basing my opinion that POP music is shit simply because it's classified as POP?
:lol

1. the Roots feat. Cody Chesnutt - the seed 2.0
2. Daftpunk - Aerodynamic
3. Justin Timberlake - like I love you
4. Sugababes - overload
5. Kylie Minogue - slow
6. N.E.R.D. - she wants to move
7. Robyn - be mine
8. Mia - was es ist
9. Rihanna - umbrella
10. Gnarls Barkley - crazy

tough decision. I liked this decade, there's plenty of material to choose from.

I'm probably stretching the category of pop a bit, but I consider all of these to be pop songs (or at least "poppy") In no particular order...

New Order - Krafty
The Killers - Mr. Brightside
Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'
Mika - Grace Kelly
Daft Punk - One More Time
Fischerspooner - Never Win
Kylie Minogue- Love At First Sight
Pet Shop Boys - Did You See Me Coming?
Venus Hum - Soul Sloshing

What is really funny about that song was one time my old college station was playing Wolf Eyes' Stabbed in the Face and me and my friends were screaming and squeeling along. Then Since U Been Gone (forgot that it was with a "U" instead of a "You") and we sang like girls. It was a great day.

I remember when I first time I heard that Killers song I was working at an Urban Outfitters and I was like, "Man, this song is fucking dumb. I've got soul but I am not a solider? What is this bullshit?" 4 days later, I bought it on LP just because I couldn't get that song out of my head. :lol

Hrmmm

Madonna "Jump" is easily the the best.....ever....evvvveeerrr

then

Seal "Amazing"
Cyndi Lauper "Same Ol Story"
Outkast "Hey Ya"
Beyonce "Irreplacable"
Lilly Allen "The Fear"
Mark Ronson "Stop Me"
Amy Whinehouse "Rehab"
MIA "Paper Planes"
Britney Spears "Toxic"
Mario "Let Me Love You"
Goapele "Closer"
Kylie Minogue "Love At First Sight"

TTC "Une Bande De Mec Sympas" (now i know what you're thinking...but think about all the places you've heard the beat. It's played in the background of more random MTV type programming than you think. Plus it's a kickass song.)
Yelle "A Cause Des Garcons" (yeah i went there...and you know why)

Because they aren't mainstream or even considered pop.

One More Time hit 61 here...and no. 1 in france and canada..and 2 in the UK and Italy. (all total charts...i'm sure they topped dance charts in most countries several times)

Technologic hit 65 and Around the World hit 61 here in the states as well

Mainstream enough...

Sorry...you still got Justice [for now]

and lol at Wes goin mostly dance there. I wanted to do that so bad...but i dunno i wanted to stick as close to pop as possible. Besides, most of my favorite dance tracks are remixes of mediocre pop songs anyways. *adds Alicia Keys "Diary" (Hani Mix) to now playing*

Any/All lists must include:

What Goes Around.../...Comes Around - Justin Timberlake
LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Interlude - Justin Timberlake
