What BF1942 Mods Are You Still Playing? (If Any)

I'm glad Grandpa porked a Chinese Muslim
For all of you out there who still play BF1942, and I hope there's a lot, what are your current favorite mods?

As for myself, I'd have to say:

-Forgotten Hope -IMO the best WWII based mod, although my opinion is skewed because I haven't tried BG42 or XWWII or the others. They have added countless new vehicles, including a kickass King Tiger and IS-2. More realistic in some ways than vanilla, especially having gotten rid of the artificial balancing of vehicles. (Tiger == M10 Wolverine == T-34/85???)
-Desert Combat - not that there's anything wrong with artificially balanced vehicles. Although I know there are a lot of haters, it's still ok for a good arcadish experience that is still more fun than vanilla.
-Desert Combat Realism - but of course, if there is a realism mod for it, it makes it all the more interesting. I only discovered it a couple days ago, but sadly there is little in the way of active servers. Usually only half a dozen completely empty servers have this running.

I hear the updated Pirates mod is excellent, but I can't find anywhere to download it that doesn't involve downloading some potentially spyware infested download manager.

I haven't played much BF in a while, but there's Desert Combat (of course), and Galactic Conquest (the Star Wars mod). GC is actually surprisingly good, although a few of the maps are a little unbalanced/buggy. Hopefully the next release will fix some of that.

Forgotten Hope
EOD
Desert Combat
don't play it but I have the original version of DC extended lol
Secret Weapons
Road to Rome
BF:V
BF:V WWII Mod
POE

:D

Galactic Conquest version 5 will be released some time tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 4). Although it will apparently be their last full release (excluding any necessary patches for balance and gameplay issues), it's full of neat stuff, not the least of which is the long-awaited AT-AT. There will also be another new space map, as well as some new interior maps, and even a racetrack(?).

Wow, looks like it's time to reinstall BF42... again...

Of course, every time I played GC, it was filled with people who didn't know what they were supposed to be doing on any of the maps, so it was just me versus the one guy on the other team who knew what he was doing, while the other 10 or so people on the server just did their own shit...

A lot like vanilla BF, actually.

Did you ever try Forgotten Hope? While it still has its share of idiots, if you find a good server, you're much more likely to find some teamwork. I'm usually at my best as a tank bow gunner, hopping out occasionally to repair the thing or clear away the nutters with the satchel charges.

Tried it once, but I wasn't a fan of their realistic approach. Not to mention the fact that the higher detail in the game really made it run poorly on my comp (which can just barely run regular BF and DC at a playable framerate).

DC FINAL rocks!

I preferred the last official release of DC, myself. They seriously nerfed the stingers in DCF, which turned DC back into the "if you're not in a chopper, you're screwed" game that it was a while ago.

DCF all day long and all night strong...

...

...that's kinda sad, really.

Anyway, I've always been meaning to try Realism. I'll probably try it while I wait for BF2, WHICH looks amazing.

Ok, the files are up for downloading at http://www.galactic-conquest.net now. I'm downloading it, but I don't think I'll get to playing tonight unfortunately. I'm too engrossed in some drawings.

I'd love to hear some impressions once you give it a chance. I'm especially curious if they changed Tanaab at all. It was such a neat idea, but it was WAY too easy to defend the lab objectives, and too hard to defend the exterior objectives.

Well, I played for a little bit after I finished my drawings. I only managed to get in about half an hour of play though, and most of the good servers were full, so I was on a small one until the last round.

Vanguard is the new space map, and features the B-Wing and some strange sentry satellites. The B-Wing, as can be expected, is a somewhat sluggish fighter, although it has an impressive loadout. Didn't try out the satellites.

Anchorhead is still a little boring, especially if there are only 6 people playing at the time.

Hoth is definitely a different map just by adding those two AT-ATs. The walking animation isn't bad, although they are sort of sliding at times. They are essentially slow nigh-invincible death factories. Since there is an interior, engineers can spawn inside and just keep repairing it indefinitely, and it repairs pretty quickly too. Apparently, the only things it is vulnerable to are the heavy AV turrets, the snowspeeder harpoon cannon, and I don't know about AV rockets yet. The harpoon isn't quite like the movies, given the engine limitations. Instead, it only does damage against the AT-AT, but it does a substantial amount of damage. It is slow to reload, and you have limited shots. Additionally, it must be fired by the snowspeeder gunner, and you can't switch seats on the fly, so you really need two people in the speeder to do it. Unless you land and shoot it that way, but that's cheap.

Well you guys may find it hard to believe, but in Europe its still played by many Clans. I am in one myself and dont have a hard time in getting our own server full or arranging clan wars.
Of Course I meant Desert Combat Final, not GC

Desert Combat, Forgotten Hope, just downloaded Galactic Conquest, but mostly vanilla BF in Capture the Flag mode. If any of you BF1942 owners havent tried CTF, you need to get on some of the populated server(DAWG Pwnd, 8E, etc.) and try it out. Ton of fon, and not many noobs either.
