What did you get for Christmas/will you get for Christmas? Any special wishes?

Gifts that you got from friends and loved ones and those that you got for yourself count equally as much.

This year I got myself the following:

A friend at work gave me this:

And from my sister I got a box with some food products like wines, meats, jam, some sweets, etc.

Overall, pretty good haul this year. Share yours!

I got a $100 gift card to a day spa from the place where I work and I am actually kind of excited about it. I also got $50 worth of gift cards for great BBQ place and a nice bottle of Merlot.

Christmas is going to be a very hard time for me this year after certain circumstances.

But I sure would love if GOG would finally release Dawn of War Master Collection. It still says coming soon after many months.

I found out I am getting a new Apple Watch.

I typically treat myself each year too, something expensive since I am so cheap throughout the year. Not sure what yet.

Amazon finally let me order a PS5. I've been playing god of war ragnorak for a couple weeks and it's beautiful

Also I got myself a really great skateboard last week. Spitfire formula four wheels, independent trucks, tactics 8.5 deck, bones bearings. It's a pretty expensive hobby, you can spend like 200 easy if you go for the premium board companies like Plan B or Baker.

I usually gift others consumables, like chocolates, drinks, snacks, etc. Nice premium packaged stuff. I feel like it's a better gift because people like food naturally and will actually use what you spent money on. Better than giving someone a book they'll never read (I personally LOVE books as gifts, but nobody in my family except me sits down and reads for at least an hour a day minimum).

Besides that my family and most of my friends don't really practice Christmas to the extent my co-workers and people I meet in public and see on TV lol. So there's not much gift giving going on in December, but I do have birthdays and other cultural holidays to enjoy gifts from others, especially family.

Bought a ps5 but not Xmas related. Got some gifts for my brothers kids. Adults don't need gifts.

I bought myself a Zojirush flip top mug for winter. For a girl I got a FLITI galaxy projector, which was hard to find because I wanted a remote and no app bs (permission leaking or app issues.) My nieces I got a geode set, and for my mother I got a weighted blanket.

I still have a few more to shop for, but that's about it. I don't expect to really get anything in return, and I'm fine with it

Bought myself:
- Henri Cartier-Bresson photo book published by MoMA
- Apple Watch SE 2nd gen
- Resident Evil 8 Gold Edition (PS5)

My daughter got:
- 30 disc set Hobbit/LOTR Extended Edition in 4K Ultra HD
- Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

I don't expect anything. I've not received a gift in nearly a decade.
You gotta treat yourself man. If you count on others to make your Christmas or birthdays awesome then you're only setting yourself up for disappointment.

Get the stuff you want yourself and then if anyone decides to get you something then it becomes a nice bonus. Like getting an extra Oreo cookie when you thought that you've already emptied the box.

So what do you do on the 25th December?

I'm not upset that I don't receive gifts. Christmas is more religious for me than anything. I consider the day special on it's own merits. The holiday doesn't provide an impetus for buying stuff since I tend to make purchases when I want or need something.

a pair of shoes as an early gift. don't know what else i'm getting.

honestly i'm not bothered by christmas anymore. it's a waste of money and energy. i've stopped spending so much money on people and get them basic shit. don't like it? tough shit.

the only thing i enjoy about christmas is time off work, staying at home, eating food, watching tv, playing games, and reading a book.

It's been a very long year and I bought myself a Christmas present this year:

(Nike Air Max Scorpions)
Should get here Tuesday. As for Christmas Day... my brother has covid and my sister probably has it as well, so I'll probably just stay home and watch some NBA Christmas Day games.

I bought myself expensive things I REALLY didn't want to buy...
A PS5, because my ps4 broke down (or, the rest of it broke down, since the disc drive has been broken for years) and it's impossible to find ps4s now (I'll die of boredom without games to play at night since I can't read with artificial lights) and 2x basic 4k 43' tvs, because mine died in a thunderstorm (both turned off and connected to surge protectors, but the stupid lightning landed right next to the house and, as a bonus, the blast noise gave me 5 days of tinnitus). I tried to get the tvs repaired but they were too old and the repair was the price of new ones.
I had to dig into the "emergency funds" to buy "Xmas gifts" for myself.

Got myself the pulse 3d headset for the Ps5

I know it's not the best but it was on sale for $65 which seems like a fair price and it's probably not going to be worse than the gen 1 ps4 gold headset it's replacing

Wife got me shoes (Nike Air Max Mid), I got her shoes (Salvatore Ferragamo). Family is getting me a 3kg Chopin book. Might get Openrun headphones since my long runs last 01:40:00 now and I keep dying inside.

Purchased my first TV in over a decade though it doesn't arrive until early Jan.
I hope 4K is worth it but TBH I'm more excited to go from 55" to 75".

I've asked for some new Airpod Pros to replace some series 1 ones that are getting a bit tatty.

I've dropped hints about a Ralph Lauren jumper that I saw in a department store but it was almost as much as the AirPods so think the hints will fall on deaf ears.

For myself, I bought Ni No Kuni on the Switch as it was on sale for £7.99 😂

I don't know. Clothes I guess. When I was a kid getting clothes for presents sucked. These days a new pair of Levis does me just fine. I get a bigger kick out of watching my wife and kid opening their presents and seeing their reactions.

I don't have any friends and I'm old, so I don't get gifts from anyone, I'm the one that buys the gifts for others. My daughter got particularly spoiled this year. Got her a new phone, Steam Deck games, new keyboard, tons of books, some Lego sets, a Taiko drum, (she loves rhythm games), and tons of other smaller stuff. Tried to really go all out for her this year.

I usually get gift cards but for this year, I got my 2021 Xmas purchase as my Xmas gift: Analogue Pocket took a full year from ordering to arriving at my door lol.
